[Dr. Sasmit Patra Urges Union Government to Expedite Development of “Brahmapur Airport” at Rangeilunda in Southern Odisha] Today, met with the Hon'ble Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Shri Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu Ji, to urge the expedited development of “Brahmapur Airport” at Rangeilunda. In a detailed representation, I pushed for upgrading the existing Rangeilunda airstrip into a full-fledged commercial airport. This has been a long-standing aspiration for the people of Southern Odisha ; including Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Koraput, Rayagada, and Malkangiri, to ensure balanced regional connectivity, tourism growth around Gopalpur-on-Sea & robust disaster preparedness. This meeting builds upon my sustained parliamentary interventions over the years, including multiple Rajya Sabha questions and Zero Hour submissions in 2025 and 2026, where the Government officially acknowledged Rangeilunda's selection under the RCS-UDAN framework.
