After the brutal first half of June, even a few 10–30 mm thunderstorm spells over parts of Chennai would feel like a major victory. Fingers crossed to see if KTCC gets its first seasonal thunderstorm show tonight. If not today, we have good chances over the next couple of days. Chidambaram - Parangipettai also on verge of their damal dumeel of the season. The weak monsoon in Kerala from yesterday opens the door for these leeward-side thunderstorms, whereas a very strong organized monsoon can confine the rainfall to the windward side and Ghat.

After a record run of 40 consecutive dry days, a line of thunderstorms is finally moving from the Gateway i.e Avadi belt towards Chennai. These are not particularly strong cells, but given the situation we're in, any rainfall is welcome. Good short spell here in Anna Nagar. Expect multiple short, brisk spells of rain across different parts of the city over the one hour. These passing showers should provide some much-needed relief from the prolonged dry spell.

TN: Causeway that had remained submerged under the sea since 1964 cyclone re-emerges near Dhanushkodi due to severe coastal erosion. According to local residents, the structure was originally built to allow water flow from elevated areas into lower-lying regions. Due to continuous wave action and sand erosion, parts of the submerged causeway have gradually started emerging from beneath the seabed after 62 years

KTCC (Chennai) hope ------------- Good rains and below normal temperatures are on the horizon for Chennai, bringing much-needed relief after the intense heat that does not mean we will get 30 C but surely well below 40 C. There is renewed hope for Chennai during June. Climatologically, June is the weakest month of the Southwest Monsoon season for the city, averaging only about 4 rainy days and around 60 mm of rainfall. However, pattern always suggests that Chennai could receive beneficial spells of rain well above the average of 60 mm, helping to bring temperatures down from the scorching levels witnessed in recent days. After enduring repeated 40°C days, residents can look forward to below normal temperatures after monsoon season starts.

KTCC (Chennai) to Vellore belt will continue to sizzle, with interior parts of Chennai likely to once again cross the 40°C mark. We may have to endure just one more day of these intense temperatures before a gradual decline sets in. The 40–41°C temperatures that we have been witnessing are expected to ease progressively over the coming days. Further south, the largely rainless regions from Nellai (Tirunelveli) Tirunelveli to Virudhunagar Virudhunagar will also continue to sizzle under the summer heat, with dry conditions keeping temperatures elevated. Rains will be seen once again in North Interiors (Around the Bangalore districts) such as Tirupattur, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Vellore etc, West Tamil Nadu, like Coimbatore, Erode, Nilgiris etc, Down South the Dindigul, Theni, Madurai belts will also see some rains.

KTCC (Chennai) to Vellore sizzles once again! Meanwhile, the interior districts are set to get another round of "Damal Dumeel" thunderstorms. KTCC is still waiting for its first proper Damal Dumeel of the season, but that day is not far away. The winds are yet to turn into proper westerlies. As a result, the thunderstorms developing over the interiors are currently drifting towards the Bengaluru side rather than making their way towards Chennai. Once the westerlies strengthen and establish themselves, Chennai's chances of getting those much-awaited evening thunderstorm will increase significantly. Until then, the interiors remain the jackpot zone for storm lovers.
