Dr. Ashlock was one of the leading researchers in PCG. His loss will be greatly affect the community.
For an example of his research, see: researchgate.net/profile/Dan…
It is with great sadness that I let you all know that Dr. Daniel Ashlock passed yesterday. He was my PhD supervisor, mentor, coauthor, and more than that a great friend. The world lost a light in the darkness yesterday.
Seeds articles sometimes lead to academic papers. For example, this system making levels for @HotlineMiami 2 mdpi.com/2073-431X/7/2/22
which first appeared as a proposal on how to read level files in Seeds issue #2.
The IEEE Conference on Games is one of the major academic events of the year - they have a CFP for short papers and demos with a track on PCG - Due on May 14th.

What kinds of generators exist? What generator did you build? What is a PCG? An older but good paper to examine a taxonomy to understand these aspects for your own generator:

Hi ProcJammers! This is @jb03hf, one of the organizers. In an effort to increase the engagement in this account though out the year, I will be posting and retweeting about the "scary" world of academia, and @Jupiter_Hadley will be posting as from the world of games dev.
Finished up my #procjam entry for this year and had a lot of fun making it. You can go to tomnullpointer.itch.io/procj… to try it out. Its not very optimised so you might have to wait a min or so for the maps to generate (depends on your cpu speed too)
#PROCJAM 2021 is kicking off, and we're excited to announce this year's theme is... CHANGE.
"So many procedural projects just produce static output. What about ones that are dynamic, living creations that continually surprise us?"
Have a peaceful, happy and fun jam 💜
