THREAD: After the #AltNews investigation into results of Booth 164 of New Town went viral, false claims about the booth's voting history were circulated on X. Several RW users claimed BJP was ahead in the locality in previous polls. Here's why the 'rebuttal' does not hold up:

Mamata Banerjee has repeatedly rewarded Cycle Chor and his botox-filler wife, now they have backstabbed them, true to their nature.

Two of the greatest Jain contributions in Indian subcontinent's history — 1. Financing Aurangzeb on his war against his brothers. 2. Financing East India Company and helping them establish their empire in India.

Rehabilitate first, Demolish later. Because how is it development if it isn’t inclusive? Came across one of the most logical stances on the hawker eviction going on in Bengal. Courtesy : satadru_mukherjee

Urban Infrastructure - Durgapur Municipal Corporation to be expanded Durgapur MLAs have given proposals for area incorporations. In the Eastern side, areas of Bamunara, Gopalpur, Rajbandh & others. Similarly in the Western side, areas of Airport City. After delimitation, DMC will go for elections. Wards will likely increase from current 43 to 90. Some bigger wards will also be broken down. Discussions already progressed multiple stages, awaits final written directive. The eastern side of Durgapur has seen explosive growth beyond its corporation boundaries - Shankarpur, Kaliganj, Tetikhola, Arrah, Shibtala, Gopalpur, Bamunara, parts of Bidhan Nagar, FCI, Banskopa, Rajbandh. Similarly in the western side of Durgapur lies the entire Aerocity Township, where numerous residential complexes, commercial establishments, schools, and colleges are springing up. Many hubs from Rajbandh Petro Complex to RDP Airport currently lies in Panchayats [leading to revenue leakages]. Expansion of DMC will also lead to more central funded projects enter Durgapur. #Durgapur #IamDurgapur #DestinationDurgapur

Yes. But of course no Indian media highlighting that Bangladeshi Hindus are also being deported. Does not go with the narrative that rather than giving Indian citizenship through CAA, they are also being deported through our forces.

The name of this individual at the centre of this argument between BSF & BGB is Shosthi Barman. He is from Mohanpur Union,2 No Ward, P.S Godabari, District- Rajshahi. The name is important as many in Indian media claimed this old man as Bangladeshi Muslim.
Mankachar,Meghalaya - A tense situation developed along the India-Bangladesh international border at Nandir Char in Mahendraganj, South West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya, after an alleged Bangladeshi national was left stranded between the two countries.According to sources, the man had illegally entered Indian territory and was detained by the Border Security Force (BSF). During a routine pushback operation, the BSF attempted to send him back to Bangladesh. However, Bangladesh’s Border Guard (BGB) and local residents on the other side allegedly refused to accept him, leaving the individual stranded near the border fencing. The man reportedly identified himself as a Bangladeshi citizen, but authorities and locals from the Bangladesh side declined to take custody, leading to confusion and heightened tensions in the area. As news of the standoff spread, hundreds of people gathered on both sides of the border. Reports indicate incidents of stone-pelting across the fencing, further aggravating the situation.

#WATCH | Kolkata, West Bengal | On her name reportedly included in the list of 20 rebel TMC MPs, party MP Pratima Mondal says, "This news is completely false... I am right here in Kolkata. I had an 'Estimates Committee' meeting scheduled for the 4th June at 11 AM. I caught the 4.20 PM flight back to Kolkata, and I haven't even been to Delhi since that day... To those spreading this false news, I ask, why don't you release that letter bearing everyone's signatures? Why don't you show the document so people can see whether my name is on it or not?..."

Then came the monumental Modi wave of 2014! Thus, gerrymandering alone can never fully offset a powerful electoral wave. It is a lesson for BJP supporters to learn, too, who have wet dreams about rigging constituency boundaries.
CONG changed the whole electoral landscape in 2009, nearly all vidhan sabha and Lok sabha boundaries changed under the farce of equalising the size of constituencies and not a single BJP leader could see through the facade. Legacy seats of all sorts of stongmen were preserved favourable new LS boundaries carefully carved

Btw, they also carried out similar gerrymandering in Kolkata Dakshin, on LF's behest, the benefits of which TMC is reaping today. MB trailed in Ballygunge in 2004, and they assumed Muslims would never vote for her.

Kasba was created by adding favourable areas like Dhakuria, and the twin Behala seats were added as well. Port was created and Park Circus was brought under Ballygunge. Ward 77 was added to Bhowanipore. Tollygunge AC was gerrymandered too by adding Wards 111–114

Some news reports on what supposedly transpired in the meeting between Smt Sonia Gandhi and Ms. Mamata Banerjee are completely inaccurate. The meeting was very cordial and many personal matters were talked about, given the long relationship they have had.

In 2005 KMC elections, some bigwigs of TMC were defeated. Sobhandeb (to Subrata Mukherjee), Sonali, Kakoli, Partha (lost to the subsequent mayor-elect Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya). Debashish Kumar was denied a ticket by TMC but managed to win as an independent candidate.
