My thoughts exactly. C gives a way better introduction on how the computer and OS actually work beneath one's own program. Also one will appreciate other languages (e.g. C ) way more after learning how complicated it can be to get stuff done in C.
As far as languages to use in introductory Computer Science courses, I actually don't think C is that bad, and, in fact, is way better than Java and Python; don't @ me.
