I don’t know who needs to hear this, but you’re allowed to have opinions—even strong and lightly-informed ones—on matters of public interest. Nobody can stop you, and anyone who tries to shame you about it should be roundly bullied. God bless America.

The brilliant thing about getting older is you realize you were never that guy. Could you have accomplished more? Sure. But if you never wanted to do the work, you were never that guy. Mourn the loss of your imagined trajectory but then start building the person you are.

No im not “monitoring the situation” you fucking normie. I am causing the situation. Art critics, law enforcement, and my deeply concerned loved ones are monitoring the situation.

… and that’s a good thing. The promise of America is that you can achieve I high standard of living without having to conform to elite lifestyle tropes or cultural habits
When I visit the US the first thing I always notice is how wildly third world it feels. Pawn shops, bad roads, gun stores, liquor stores, payday lenders, dollar stores--it's ubiquitous. Americans are just third worlders with big TVs, cars, and mortgages and really nice phones.

It’s pretty crazy that we routinely make one of the biggest financial decisions of our lives with minimal information about a factor that affects its value enormously.
I feel like we don’t talk about how life-altering it can be to have bad neighbors. It’s quite literally one of the worst things that can happen to you!

You’d be a weirdo for canvassing a prospective neighborhood like you were interviewing people for the opportunity to be your neighbor, but considering the stakes it almost seems irresponsible not to!

I think the cold cheese and onion british sandwich probably tastes pretty good
I have a lot of respect for British cuisine, but the "cheese and onion roll" is really pushing it

It's been almost a year since I left Texas and I have not missed any American foods EXCEPT the breakfast items. Waffles with maple syrup, bagels, breakfast sausage and biscuits. I eat better in Brazil than I did in the states, but America is a golden land of excellent breakfasts.

I’m pretty sure he got hit on the road, we found him in the garage with just one small spot with the fur rubbed off on his head, otherwise no obvious injuries, but he had coughed up some blood. I’m guessing he got hit on the head by a bumper and came home to die 😢

Got very promising news last night. Not quite in the bag, but barring the unexpected I should have a formal offer sometime next week 🎉🎉🎉
Had my final round this morning with what has become my clear top choice. 🙏🙏🙏

This is, may God have mercy on your awful priest, the most Anglican idea I have ever heard of.
My priest said when he was in seminary he wrote a paper on why coronation should be the 8th sacrament. What a chad.

The events leading to the construction of San Xavier occurred in a reality that simply isn't our reality. Barefoot friars walked into what was essentially an alien sun beaten planet, and some how induced the natives to construct gleaming white domes that wouldn't be out of place in old Europe, all for the glory of God. If anything, the internal lives of those austere religious men are more alien to us than those of the Indians.
Mission San Xavier del Bac at Tucson, Arizona, alongside an O'odham village named Wa:k. The place lies on the ruins of an even older Sobaipuri O'odham village.

I hate how compelling I find the argument that America is in fact returning to form after a long, weird 20th-century interlude.
Neo-Americana emerges in the 2020’s because the social conditions that spawned 19th century Americana have returned in a hybrid digital context; decentralized media, streams of cult leaders that seemingly appear and disappear, an absence of central authority, mass-paranoia, quasi-occultism, endless scams and speculative bubbles, unregulated drug use etc.

But on the flipside, plenty of people in major-metro suburbs are driving 25 minutes to things on the regular. It just becomes normal pretty quickly.

So far in my career I’ve gotten one job by knowing a guy, and I gotta say the result was mixed. It became very clear that for better or worse I was widely seen as “M’s guy” due to the clout he had to apply to bring me in outside of the official channels.

This anecdote brought to you by my interviewer this morning who asked “If he liked you enough to bring you on, and was a VP when the RIF happened, why didn’t he shield you from getting let go?”
