Omarchy on Asahi creator lost access to his GitHub account two weeks ago due to some automated process flagging his account. Repo went offline and has been since. Not even me personally reaching out to GitHub twice has been able to restore his account. Terrifying. Embarrassing.

Sadly, no. GitHub, like every other corporation, has too much red tape to get through. I’ve given up on them and now I’m migrating to Codeberg.

Greq is a CLI tool that searches files and returns the most relevant sections. Greq applies lightweight linguistic ranking (BM25) to score and sort file sections. It behaves like a small search engine in your shell. github.com/KlausSchaefers/gr…

Open source ensures that designers are not locked into a single ecosystem, that data remains under the creator’s control, and that the future of design tooling is not dictated solely by the stock market. #design #ux #opensource medium.com/design-bootcamp/w…

Designing just got smoother. Now when you drag elements into a Rectangle (Shortcut R), the paddings are automatically respected—no more manual nudging! Simply drop a Rectangle onto your canvas, set your desired paddings, and start dragging elements in.

Seeing that Zuckerberg wants to introduce Community Notes and YouTube is allegedly trialling something similar, I predict it will be a spectacular failure and in a few years you'll understand why I said this. Collective intelligence is a nice idea but it's fraught with difficulties in practice. The question how to get groups to be more intelligent than its member has been studied a lot by sociologists and I don't see that X is doing anything to avoid the obvious pitfalls. This starts with information cascades and anchoring bias and goes all the way to the problem that ultimately the people who will win are those who can afford to invest more time into it. It's funny how people on this platform complain about the bias on Wikipedia but at the same time believe that they are immune to the same problem. Really I'm just writing this so that 2 years down the line I can say I told you so.

This is remarkable because object storage was never seen as seen as a high margin service (compared to compute or managed services). Storage appeared to be a race to the bottom between all major cloud providers. But it seems Hetzner discovered a new bottom. And wow is it low!
