ALT Sharepic calling for a professorship (W3) in Integrative Signalling Research at the Faculty of Biology at the University of Freiburg, Deadline 28 February 2025.
Finally out in print! Check out our study on multiparameter imaging to reveal cancer cell state-dependent crosstalk with stroma that determines patient outcome 👇
Happy to share latest work from the Lab by lead author Chiara Schröder, out in DevCell: global enhancer remodeling giving competence for mesoderm/endoderm differentiation by co-workers EOMES and SWI/SNF. Transcription comes later! So, EOMES is not a TF, but a chromatin regulator!
I am very proud of Yasmine from the lab for winning a poster prize at the #GfE2024 organized by the German and Dutch societies for developmental biology for her work on Hes1 dynamics in the embryonic tail. Congratulations!
Here are the five poster prize winners of the #GfE2024 in alphabetic order: Vanessa Disela, Yasmine el Azhar, Olga Jarosinska, Laura Klink, Barbara Ohlebusch. Congratulations to you!
Please RT: Job opportunity!

WRT the recent interest in TbxT, aka #Brachyury, & all kind of tails, nice historical perspective on this most iconic gene in the history of #DevBioshorturl.at/lEK57. Below, heroes of Brachyury (Fig.2 in ref ) B. Herrmann, who cloned the gene &, of course, the T/ mouse

We provide further evidence for the downregulation of NOGGIN by pSMAD, as predicted by our simulations, and detail the early antiphasic behavior of GDF5 and pSMAD that result from a self-organizing Turing system that drives joint initiation in developing digits of amniotes... 2/3

Very curious if anyone guessed this 😁 Our 2023 Method of the Year is methods for modeling development (aka embryoids)!!!! Some amazing things happening in this space enabling our understanding of the earliest stages of embryogenesis and beyond. Please enjoy the issue!
It's that time of year!! 🎉We are so excited to announce our 2023 pick for Nature Methods' Method of the Year: methods for modeling development. Read the Editorial to find out why we chose this as our pick. #moty2023nature.com/articles/s41592-0…
Ever considered that the loss of your favorite epigenetic factor might impact gene expression in an allele-specific manner? Our new study shows allele-specific gene regulation by the chromatin regulator MSL2.nature.com/articles/s41586-0…
🚨 The lab of @AsifaAkhtar1 uncovered in @nature a mechanism that safeguards the biallelic expression of haploinsufficient genes.
The epigenetic regulator MSL2 acts as an “anti-monoallelic” factor that maintains biallelic gene dosage. This discovery not only reveals a communication system between parental alleles but also points to potential therapeutic strategies for diseases associated with haploinsufficient genes.
Congratulations to @sun_yidan, Meike Wiese & @raedhmadi 🥳
