Today is also my last day at the paper after nearly 13 years, and this will be my last column. I'm grateful that it happened to be one about saying goodbye.
I wrote about the legacy of Koda Farms, California rice growers for nearly 100 years, creators of the rice I've been eating all my life: latimes.com/california/story…
Transphobia, misogyny and good old plain racism. For many athletes, not fitting into arbitrary gender norms creates this whirling dervish of bigotry, harassment and abuse.
This side uses transphobia to define “woman” through standards they themselves come up with. & these standards aren’t consistent in any way. & these standards have always been used to target Black & Brown women. It doesn’t even matter what a person’s birth certificate says. It only matters to this group what they themselves decide, based on their own criteria. This is the same line of thinking the led Trump to screw up his face to say that Kamala Harris “happened to turn Black”. One of the highest levels of white privilege is telling people who they are and then forcing them to be that thing.
And being offended by a fighter enjoying their victory only tells me that you don’t watch boxing without telling me that you don’t watch boxing.
Could any picture sum up our new men’s rights movement better? The smirk of a male who’s knows he’s protected by a misogynist sporting establishment enjoying the distress of a woman he’s just punched in the head, and whose life’s ambition he’s just shattered. #Paris2024
I just created a dedicated ActBlue donation page for Asian Americans to donate to Kamala Harris. 100% of donations made through it go to the campaign of the next President of the United States, and the first Black and Asian woman to ever occupy that role.

Of course she is not my perfect candidate, but we need a safer ground from which to push for real change and this is it, so all in. The life you save may be your own. The wheel’s still in spin: fire, flood, pandemic and worse.
On behalf of the American people, I thank Joe Biden for his extraordinary leadership as President of the United States and for his decades of service to our country.
I am honored to have the President’s endorsement and my intention is to earn and win this nomination.
This July is the 34th anniversary of the ADA and it is beyond disappointing how little has changed
We still have to fight for the right to be in public spaces and live in the community instead of institutions
I am not in a celebratory mood
Disabled & high risk people are feeling betrayed & outage by proposed mask bans that are effectively the new Ugly laws in this fascist dystopian eugenic society
No one has our backs except us. Both parties do not deserve our votes
I feel very alone w/ so much rage
Counter point: enforcing your cultural practice of wearing outside shoes into the house on a “no shoes” party host is actually rude.
But also, to be fair, I read the whole article and in general I wouldn’t want to party with any of them.
Like clearly, their idea of a good time and my idea of a good time are very different.
All the party tips sound like for they’re for a party that would be so horrible, so pretentious, and so much of a snooze fest, I would rather poke my eyes out than attend.
On June 4, Cathy Linh Che, Executive Director of @kundimanforever, was fired after serving Kundiman as Executive Director and staff member for 12 years.
ALT On June 4th, Kundiman’s Executive Director, Cathy Linh Che, was fired after 12 years of service and leadership.
Cathy’s firing is the latest act in an ongoing escalation by Kundiman Co-Founders, Sarah Gambito and Joseph Legaspi, and their handpicked Board of Trustees: Ricco Siasoco, Wylie Chen, Katrina Venturina, Nina M. Chung, and Chia-Chee Chiu.
ALT Since October 2023, Kundiman’s Co-Founders and Board have dismissed and ignored community members seeking open dialogue on board restructuring and an organizational commitment to PACBI.
Cathy Linh Che’s termination follows months of trying to protect Kundiman staff from harm. It is clear that the Kundiman Board is not working with the community’s best interests in mind, and we demand their resignation.
Long-ish vid but worth watching, esp for 2nd half: 1) @EugeneLeeYang articulates a lot of thoughts that reflect my own tension with online content creation vs need for privacy and security; and 2) Eugene briefly highlights the incredible impact of our online AsAm community.
Thank you for an unforgettable decade on YouTube. Full of gratitude for the 2nd Try team and you, the fans - I'm so relieved that I can finally share all of this. If I was ever a part of your lives, know that you impacted mine more than I can ever express.

As someone who has been around since its earliest days, I still believe in our online AsAm spaces where I still hope diverse and progressive AsAm voices can find space to center and tell our own beautiful and complex stories; on occasion, we even manage to live up to that vision.
I think there is courage in finding one’s medium, and also in realizing when
a medium isn’t a good fit, perhaps because one’s evolved away from it. Life is all about growth and change.
So anyways, good luck @EugeneLeeYang and I look forward to your next chapter. ❤️
