What would Austin look and feel like if we could get the percentage of car free households up to 15%? There are huge public benefits to doing this. Less pollution, people walk more and interact w their neighborhood. Helps local and neighborhood businesses. Saves people money.
5% of Austin households don’t have a vehicle, the highest among Texas cities. Dallas at 1% and Houston at 2%.

Cologne and Frankfurt are roughly the same distance and see 50 round trip trains daily that take 63 minutes. San Antonio and Austin see one and it takes 143 minutes.

- 5.3 million people.

Love this! Cities are for people, not cars. Yet, we allocate so much precious space to the automobile. There's a reason why cities with the best quality of life around the world have fewer cars. More parks, housing and less noise/carbon pollution.
