This speared giraffe in remote Tsavo was spotted by our aerial team on patrol. We flew a KWS vet to the scene in our helicopter, who carefully removed the spear gave the patient lifesaving veterinary care on the ground.
Reticulated giraffe numbers have fallen by around 50% in three decades. Every individual saved counts for the future of the species.

Mara (front) and Rana (back) were headed out into the habitat when they both decided to take a pause to graze a little and relax a lot. Their stillness reflects their comfort with each other, as does their relaxed nature and closeness.

Family reunion, elephant style.
Three ex-orphans came home to our Voi stockades in January, each with a wild-born calf (or two!) alongside her. Edie. Mweya. Arruba. All rescued from Tsavo years ago, all now mothers, raising families of their own in the wild.
But like kids who've flown the nest, they're still popping round to raid the fridge and sneak in some childcare.
