For literally anything other than homes, "Will X cost less if we don't force all buyers of X to also buy thousands of square feet of extremely expensive land" would not be treated by anyone as a question that needs studies to answer.

Lot splitting is a super important bill to pass folks!
BIAW member Justin Wood explains why SHB 1096 is a game-changer. This bill makes it easier to split lots and build more townhomes, duplexes, and other middle housing—creating affordable, entry-level homes for first-time buyers. Oregon has already done it, and it’s working. Instead of limiting land to rentals or condos, let’s give more people a chance at homeownership.
Washington needs housing options that work. SHB 1096 is a step in the right direction.
