Twenty-seven years ago, Nigeria began its longest uninterrupted journey under democratic rule.
Democracy is more than elections. It is the belief that every voice matters, that institutions must outlive individuals, and that progress is built through participation, accountability, and hope.
Our democratic story has not been perfect. It has been challenged, tested, and at times questioned. Yet through every election, every peaceful transfer of power, and every citizen who chooses engagement over apathy, the Nigerian people have kept that story alive.
This Democracy Day, we honour those who fought for the right to choose, those who continue to serve, and the millions of Nigerians who still believe our best days lie ahead.
The work of democracy is never finished. It belongs to every generation.
Happy Democracy Day, Nigeria. đłđŹ
