(🇦🇹 The Kids Are Alright! 😘)

Significantly more land is used for growing biofuels than is used for solar You can’t eat biofuels But I never hear any complaints about that (You can’t eat ‘golf’ either)
Solar panels on farmland. You can’t eat solar panels.

The normalcy bias we're all experiencing for global sea-surface temperatures becomes apparent if we look at the graph of SSTs 1982-2026 and remove the last three years 2023, 2024, 2025 from the picture:

I want to thank our courageous friends in Minnesota who — in below freezing temperatures — are standing up to ICE. The American people want democracy and justice, not authoritarianism.  When we stand together we win.

AOC just exposed the whole play: Keep America divided so they can loot the economy, gut healthcare, and funnel billions into ICE and surveillance contracts for companies like Palantir.

Trump is just the trigger. There are deep historical forces: The dismantling of the FCC fairness doctrine by Reagan, the resulting emergence of Fox News, conservative talk radio, and other propaganda outlets, the removal of guardrails for the influence of money in politics (e.g. Citizen United), the continuous reduction of taxes on high incomes, the ever-increasing wealth and income inequalities enabled by the above, the stagnation of working class income despite continued increase in productivity (and corporate profits), the total lack of social protection and benefits compared to other developed countries. People in the middle class and below have been screwed for 40 years and are angry. They should be angry at Republicans. But the Republican party has managed to deflect their anger towards immigrants, non-Christians, non-whites, liberals, LGBT, China, academia, intellectual "elites", scientists, journalists, and non-existent scarecrows like Antifa.

NEW: China is testing a megawatt-scale airborne wind system that captures stronger high-altitude winds, potentially producing up to 10× more energy with 40% less material and 30% lower costs. It could also be quickly deployed to supply emergency power after disasters.

In a sane world, this would be front page news everywhere. But it will hardly be covered anywhere. The North Pacific Ocean surface warmed over twice as much over the past 15 years than it did over the preceding 156 years. That's an increase in warming rate of >2000%!
Replying to @LeonSimons8
Acceleration of warming is especially clear over the North Pacific Ocean, which warmed more than twice as much over the past 15 years than it did over the preceding 150 years!

Using old coal mines to heat homes? Gateshead is doing it. Their mine-water project—the UK’s largest—draws 15°C water from boreholes, uses heat pumps to boost it to 80°C, and sends that heat through an underground network. The system now warms 350 homes and 23 buildings.

It's been quite something to see one of the world's leading climate scientists, James Hansen, being vilified the past six years for presenting data showing the rapid acceleration of global and regional warming, associated with continued greenhouse gas emissions and rapid reduction of (dimming) particulate air pollution. Loud voices in the climate community ignore the actual science and constantly use cherry-picking, strawmann arguments and ad hominems to try and deny the undeniable. Pretending that we have been exaggerating, while it's likely even worse than we feared (again, based on data). False hope and vested interests will get a lot of people killed, as it has for centuries.
