Pacing isn’t curative but it’s a necessary skill for people living with energy limiting conditions. ME and ME-like conditions that are associated with known deficits in aerobic metabolism. Obviously I teach pacing and that’s centered on patients’ specific self-identified needs.

Daring to believe that I'm on some kind of route to #recovery from #LongCovid#PEM.
My raised 'Lactate Heartrate' from around 100bpm to c.138bpm, following months of careful #micropacing (HT @robinthephysio) should allow me to reintroduce some activities.
Just had a shower 😲🎉
My resting HR was 50-ish. Originally, back in May, my lactate threshold was around 110bpm, so I set alerts for 105bpm.
I used a treadmill to gradually increase my heartrate and to discover a gradually rising lactate threshold; it's now around 130bpm so I only get alerts at 127!
All from not over-exerting. Stopping moving and resting before my body produces lactic acid. It's working for me! I can go for days without hitting 127bpm.
A woman on Facebook recently told me that her latate threshold is now 140 bpm. This effectively allows 'normal' activity.
Well done!! A thing of beauty @benking01 So glad you found the YouTube I did with @BinitaKane so useful. You are part of our inspiration to produce further free to access resources in the New Year, watch this space 👍
The @visible_health app. offers a downloadable summary Health Report.
Over this timescale it's clear to see a reduction in my symptoms and an overall improvement in my health.
Thanks to heartrate monitoring and, since September, the @NuffieldHealth#LongCovid Rehab. course.

Thank you so much. The video really encouraged me to pace more aggressively. It is very hard and frustrating at times as like many I was very active pre Covid and enjoyed running. It does, however, work so will keep on going. Trade offs have to be made but it’s worth it 😊
