Some "overdue" news: my first paper on palm oil, started over a decade ago, was accepted for Christmas and is in print open access at the @JIntlEcon today. It's quite different from earlier versions, and the (excellent) review process improved it a lot.

Codex knows its game. With the new @AnthropicAI newest Fable model on since Wednesday, I am already hitting my weekly limit today.
As soon as it did, I went to Codex, and it was ready for a hand-off.
If Claude keeps consuming all the tokens like it is now, Codex will boom!

It would be hard to dream up a system better designed to inhibit child bearing than today’s academia. Endless grad school, pre and postdoc, no location stability, quantity not quality evaluation, etc. yet they wonder why so few women do it

We economists have had Claude write the essay: Provide us with a Guardian piece arguing that growth is doomed. Provide provocative illustrations and polemical language but no actual evidence. Include as many fashionable buzzwords as possible.
