Gov. Lamont literally changed headlines to try to trick you into thinking he’s working to lower energy costs. But even the media is calling him out for it. After eight years in office and passing proposals that increase your electricity bills over and over again, he says he’ll fix it if you give him four more! It won’t take me eight years as governor to come up with a plan—I’ve had a plan for years and have fought for it every day as the leading Republican on the Energy Committee. When I’m governor, I’ll always give it to you straight and I’ll start working to cut the hidden taxes in your electricity bills on day one.

Same with us Our full headline was: "Gov. Lamont wants to get 'a lot tougher' on electric providers. But rivals say it's too little, too late"

The Lamont campaign literally writes fake headlines to try to trick you into thinking he’s done anything but help raise your electricity bills! Even so, every single Republican AND Democrat I have spoken to this week has been floored by the tone deafness. After eight years of raising costs for families, who would believe the governor needs four more years to do something about it!
Our full headline was: “With an election looming, Lamont says he can lower Connecticut energy rates”

🔌Funny how the “electric rate crisis” suddenly became urgent to Gov. Lamont only two months before a primary in an election year… The governor has been in office for 8 years. CT has had some of the highest electric rates in America under his administration. CT Senate Republicans proposed real plans to lower electric rates and eliminate the Public Benefits Charge. Democrats voted NO! Now he says he’s “stepping up”? Connecticut families have been paying the price while he and CT Democrats did nothing for YEARS!

The Spurs know how to TAKE the lead, they just don't know how to HOLD the lead. And that's really the most important part of the lead: the holding

One of the most common concerns I hear from our small businesses is the backbreaking cost of health care for them and their employees. Healthcare premiums have risen by around 10 percent per year on Gov. Lamont’s watch — and they’re about to go up by even more again. Lack of choice. Red tape. Costly taxes and mandates. As governor, I will ensure patients and employees have access, choice, and affordability. I’ll pass association health care plans that will give small businesses and employees more choice which one study says could reduce premiums by 10 percent. And we’ll roll back costly red tape like Certificate of Need laws that will ensure more competition and access and will reduce costs by up to 10 percent more. We can make our great state affordable! All we need is a positive change.

Took @GovNedLamont 8 years to come up with a plan. Time for him to go. Day late and a Billion short.
HAPPENING NOW: @NedLamont & @SusanForCT are outside @EversourceCT announcing a plan to lower electric rates They want to let @CT_PURA consider the cost of smart meters in rate cases, make utilities renew franchises every 15 yrs and @CT_OCC would get subpoena power

After nearly 7 1/2 years in office @GovNedLamont & @SusanForCT have just announced a plan to lower electric rates? Just imagine the plans they can come up with if they’re on ballot in 2034… Maybe we let @ryanfazio and @MattCoreyCT see what they can get done in 7 1/2 weeks?

Today, Governor Lamont unveiled what he described as an energy plan, just weeks after Eversource sought an 11% rate hike following eight years of soaring electricity costs for your family on his watch. Gov. Lamont is eight years late and billions of dollars short. His policies have inflated the hidden taxes and cost of your electricity bills over two terms. Why should we trust him that a third term will be different? As governor, I will change direction. I’ll eliminate every hidden tax in your electric bills, hold Eversource and the big utilities accountable, and cut costs for your family by 20 percent. It’s time for a change.

Payroll taxes. Highway taxes. Sales taxes. Small business taxes. Hospital taxes. All new under Gov. Lamont. But he’s got the nerve to say that he’s lowered taxes in his 8 years. Your eyes & your wallet don’t deceive you — Ned Lamont does.

Connecticut, we’re on the wrong track. Electricity bills are crushing families and businesses while Gov. Lamont keeps passing new laws that will only make it worse. Higher costs for you, higher profits for energy corporations. We can’t afford to continue in this direction. When I’m governor, we’ll change track. I’ll cut every hidden tax in your electricity bills and reduce rates by 20 percent. We can make our state affordable for your family.

82 years ago, tens of thousands of young Americans courageously marched to likely deaths in order to free a continent from fascist tyranny and protect the freedom of our nation and the world. Today our nation and world enjoys more freedom and prosperity than those young men could have hoped for and gave everything to secure for us—people they would never know. We owe them a debt we can never repay. The least we can do in gratitude for their valor is to pass on the memory of their fight and pass on the republic they left us better than we found it. Every school child in Connecticut and beyond should graduate having been taught the basic facts of America’s heroes and history from Lexington to Gettysburg to Normandy to Busan and beyond. There is no excuse for the decline of civics education we see today—especially as the living embodiment of many of these memories pass on. The next generation must be armed with the knowledge of our great history and our current leaders must make sure that happens. After all, freedom is never more than one generation from extinction.

🚨CALL FOR VETO AND AFFORDABILITY: Last week, Gov. Lamont said he was upset by possible future electricity rate increases. Well, this week the governor can do something about it. Today, I joined my colleagues and great candidates for office to call for the governor to veto H.B. 5340. Connecticut families like yours are already hurting under the weight of the 2nd highest electricity rates in the nation under this governor. The least the governor can do accordingly is veto H.B. 5340 which would add billions of dollars in new costs and public benefits charges to your electricity bills. This policy would increase subsidies to for-profit energy companies on the backs of families like yours. No matter your political affiliation, you can understand why that is wrong. All the governor must do to stop billions in new costs for our residents is use the veto pen. Today we call on him to use it and make sure that his actions match his words on affordability.

“Like you, I love our state. I was born and raised here and graduated from our public schools. My parents, working-class city kids of union tradesmen, worked hard and moved to Connecticut. They instilled in my brothers and me a sense of faith, hard work, and an obligation to do what is right. Now I’m running for governor to restore the opportunity and affordability for your family that my family moved here for decades ago.” There’s more to this campaign than some in the media will tell you. Hear it from me directly. Read my op-ed 👇
