Our Director @sam_signsofhope joined @StarFM to discuss access to IDs for persons with disabilities. A 2013 @NASCOHZW1 study shows 20% have no IDs, excluding many from school, work & healthcare, and exposing them to economic violence. #AfricaHumanRightsDay @table_girls

Dear @Zim_Media_Com @InfoMinZW Excessive fees for accessing personal information, like nearly US$100 for a certificate, defeat the purpose of access to information laws. We ask that: - Fees be reviewed and capped, - Public bodies adopt clear policies on access to information.

1/ We really need to talk about the cost of accessing information in Zimbabwe. A whole US$85 to replace a lost/damaged O-Level certificate 😳 — plus $10 if you don’t remember your candidate number? facebook.com/share/p/1CaQ3zC… #FOIA #AccessToInformation @Zim_Media_Com

The only way of addressing disability digital divides 8s through inclusive designs, affordable access solutions and targeted programs and initiatives. Otherwise we continue to curtail their rights and independence. Special thanks to @KICTANet @cipesa @sam_signsofhope at #DRIF25

Highlight on Digital Democracy in 2024: The persistent digital divide is deepening political inequalities and exclusion in many African countries. Only 37% of the African population uses the internet(vs 67% global average). Meanwhile, developed regions like North America and Europe exceed 90%. The digital divide worsens economic inequalities, educational disparities(lack of online learning, unequal Skill development), political exclusion, and exacerbates social inequality. Tackling the digital divide is an important issue for developing countries.
