@wirrow / tiny stories in the age of AI is especially brilliant. This was and always will be a foundational reminder for me. and a new earth (courtesy of @wirrow / tiny stories, originally found on @HITRECORD ladies and gentlemen the world is much larger and stranger than you have been led to believe there are extraordinary things in your everyday lives there are hidden treasures in familiar shadows you have been kept shielded shielded from the dangerous and untamable world of the actual we hand it all to you on a plate packaged and pristine the blandly mass-produced trinkets the omnipresent corporate cafes the unchallenging brainless autotuned overprocessed media that fills your screens and airwaves we've anaesthetised you like a Huxleyan Soma with all the aroma of neatness and control whilst the disorder of your anarchic nature has been pounding at your soul we can never be like you so we reduce you to simplicity but you have sparks of divinity you are married to infinity we make you fear your imperfections but in fact they are the diamond of your being and they will always offer unimaginable variations you have forgotten how to dream because we have removed it from your language but there are things inside you that are mysterious and magical and impossible to explain and if anything cannot be rationally explained then our machines will not compute you are being watched, my friends you are taxed livestock you are numbers on our screens and you are seeking little other than the peaceful parade of pictures on screens the tranquil melody of corporate lullaby this is an invitation put down your newspapers turn off your tvs because there is a war being waged for your minds and you're starting to feel scared you're starting to forget just how free and powerful you really are deep inside you there is a roaring fire that is not cooled by comfort or tamed by fear a fire that burns in all things a fire that can drag your fellow beings out of stagnant waters and re-imagine your world with no leader or station no grants from rich foundations a world that is not made of atoms but stories a world that shifts its shape with every passing daydream that intervenes your daily routines and the narcotic moments of creative bliss the bizarre stomach flutterings with the lovers you kiss the complex structures you devise and the endless nights shooting stars into your eyes there are trails of light in your collective dreams there is sentience in your discarded machines everything in this world is intoxicating everything is on fire all the time and you are bound only by the limits of your imagination everything else will follow the world will follow as above so below a new heaven and a new earth

> my wife and I stopped by Corgi Cafe on Friday night to check the hype > place was absolutely packed, there were two guys sitting nearly on top of each other in a phone booth because there were no seats > three women in total: the barista, my wife, and a girl who was trying to get work done but kept getting hit on by a guy in a suit who told he her owned the cafe ☠️
Corgi single-handedly is the best coworking cafe/space in my opinion. I’ve been in SF for a week now and couldn’t find anything better than this cafe. It’s 11 PM Friday night in SF, and this is the vibe at Corgi Cafe. They offer high-protein smoothies (42g), with Chipotle and Subway nearby. The cafe is open 24/7 and has good WiFi. What else do you need?? Gonna miss this energy and place in NYC so much

Lilly is only biopharma so far leaning in on consumer biotech applications. I'm hopeful the rest of the industry will wake up soon. Huge market and opportunity to create products that people love.
These numbers are shocking. It's like we got a new frontier AI model but for the body. Lilly's phase 3 results for retatrutide: > highest dose lost 28.3% of body weight in 80 wks > 70 lbs ave > 45% lost 30% or more of their body weight > 65% on the top dose no longer clinically obese Retatrutide is more dynamic than semaglutide and tirzepatide because it targets three receptors (GIP, GLP-1, and glucagon), versus one and two, respectively. Side effects, on the highest dose (12mg), were higher for retatrutide than tirzepatide (nausea and GI), with an 11.3% drop out rate. The lowest 4mg dose still delivered 19% loss with fewer dropouts than placebo.

A lot of people fixate on money as the reason to start a business. But a bigger reason should be about controlling your time. As a founder, you can take off in the middle of the day to coach your kid soccer or do something fun when most of the rest of the world cannot. And then you can come back to it at 10pm or 2am and there's no hassle.

when i was younger, i was very insecure. i did this kind of thing too. over time you learn that it is critical to be truthful and not misleading about every single thing you do. i had to learn this lesson the hard way, but boy, have i internalized it. UNDERSELL yourself.

Big news for @biosphereio today: we’ve been awarded a $9 million U.S. Army contract to develop field-deployable biomanufacturing systems that can produce nutritious, ready-to-eat food from air, water, and energy in remote or contested environments. Thank you to @DEVCOM_SC for your support! biosphere.io/article/biosphe…

Two days until a group of us meet to run down the Embarcadero and chat about biotech. If you want to meet us at the end or are worried about pacing: 1. We'll be running at a conversational pace and the group will likely split naturally into two pacing groups. 2. We will all meet for coffee at the end. You can sign up and request to attend the coffee part if you're new to running. luma.com/mc792fjj

I have a very fun (and intense) role up. If you’re a physicist, biophysical modeller, or insane maths wizard with a deep interest in biological systems I couldn’t imagine a more cool position. You’ll be working with a killer team across computation neuro, bioelectricity, materials science, product eng, and even neurosurgery

Are you a VC who runs, but doesn't have the time to balance fitness and socializing? Do you invest in biotech and want to let out some rage on the road? Are you a founder that wants some no BS tips on connecting with the investor community? Are you either of these and having an existential crisis daily? Come join Richard Waines of @DCVC and me on May 1 for a run (moving your body helps with all of this, I promise). We have quite a few investors and some cool founders coming. luma.com/event/manage/evt-El…

Only one chance in this lifetime… Like watching sunset at the beach from the most foreign seat in the cosmos, I couldn’t resist a cell phone video of Earthset. You can hear the shutter on the Nikon as @Astro_Christina is hammering away on 3-shot brackets and capturing those exceptional Earthset photos through the 400mm lens. @AstroVicGlover was in window 3 watching with @Astro_Jeremy next to him. I could barely see the Moon through the docking hatch window but the iPhone was the perfect size to catch the view…this is uncropped, uncut with 8x zoom which is quite comparable to the view of the human eye. Enjoy.

100k channels, dry, thought to text, available this year. This will not work. The version of this to come out will have a very, very large battery. Consumers won’t like it.
NEW: This beanie lets you type with just your thoughts. Sabi just emerged from stealth with a brain-computer interface you wear like a beanie that turns internal speech into text on a screen. • Noninvasive interface worn as a cap or beanie • 70,000–100,000 sensors for high-density brain signal capture • Trained on 100,000 hours of neural data • ~30 words per minute at launch, improves with use • Backed by Khosla, Accel, Initialized, and Kevin Weil @sabi feels like the first real attempt at a consumer BCI.
