ElectroMag Nodes now available on BlenderMarket and Gumroad! Give it a go! I would appreciate any comments/feedback. Keep in mind that this is a first attempt at creating a basic electromagnetics solver in Blender, expect more features and nodes to be added blendermarket.com/products/e… highvoltage.gumroad.com/l/el… #geometrynodes #simulationnodes #b3d #blender3d #electromagnetics #engineers #engineering #electronics #science #physics #educational

I can model magnetics and calculate inductance of toroids! this a realtime PEEC solver running entirely inside geometry nodes, you can see the impact of changing turns, their spread across the toroid, how tight they are and changing the wire radius. Coming soon to ElectroMag Nodes #b3d #geometrynodes #electronics #science

Here are some high res renders of my simulation for induced eddy currents in conductive planes. A coil carrying high frequency AC when placed above a metal sheet will cause eddy currents to be induced in the sheet that cancel the magnetic field and reduce the coil’s inductance. Eddy current shielding is used in certain applications such as wireless power transfer and induction heating to create an asymmetric magnetic field that is strong on one side and weak on the other. #b3d

Now can simulate eddy currents with ElectroMag Node! This animation shows the a high frequency coil above a conductive plane, eddy currents are induced in the plane that cancel the magnetic field and reduce the coil’s inductance. continuing with my PEEC solver in Blender for inductors. Now I have a basic Python/Numba code that can calculate skin and proximity. You can see as the frequency increases the current shifts towards to the outer surface and also gets affected by adjacent turns #b3d #geometrynodes #electronics #Technology #science

working on creating a PEEC (partial element equivalent circuit) solver, instant calculation of inductance. Geometry nodes are becoming more and more powerful. This will be included in Electromag Nodes. #b3d #geometrynodes #electronics #technology #Science

Kicad can export layout and individual nets as STL files, which can then be imported in #b3d with the new Import STL node. You can either import the entire geometry or selected specific nets by typing their name. The imported geometry can then be scaled up to view a net of interest in more details like this pcb planar transformer design #geometrynodes #electronics #Engineering #3dart #3DModel #kicad

I'm experimenting with the new features in both #kicad and Blender for exporting and importing geometry. KiCAD now allows you to filter and export selected nets from the PCB as STL or STEP files, and Blender now has new import STL nodes in geometry nodes, which means you can select the nets that you want to visualise with having to import the entire geometry. #b3d #geometrynodes #electronics #Engineering

simulating layouts with Blender FastHenry! you can now export spice netlist of your Blender scene and run a layout spice simulation. Here I am using kiCAD Ngspice to see study the switch node voltage ringing of NMOS half-bridge with TO-220 packages. You can see how moving DC link capacitors closer, and shortening leads reduces the amount of ringing and overshoot. @Blender @kicad_pcb @DanielBogdanoff @eevblog

I've been experimenting with Google Veo 3 for electronics, here are some fun videos it created, popping electrolytic capacitors and answering questions about GaN and SiC transistors! very impressive and fun! #Veo3 @hackaday #electronics #engineering #Technology

I finally made on it on the @TheAmpHour podcast! Many thanks to Chris Gammell for having me on podcast, please check it out if you want to learn about all things @Blender and how I use it for modelling and visualisations in engineering. @eevblog #b3d #blender3d #engineering #science #3dart #3danimations
Power engineer and 3D graphic artist @samerps's #blender visualizations have helped many people understand how RF and magnetics acts in a variety of circuits. He talks about how to get started in Blender and the variety of tools available once you do. theamphour.com/695-making-th…

You can now use Blender Fasthenry to do PCB layout studies, calculate impedances of loops and return paths and determine how many vias you need! This demo shows how the impedance of DC decoupling capacitor is impacted by its distance from the IC, and the number of vias under the IC and near the capacitor. This is for a two-layer 1.6mm PCB at 1MHz. Blender FastHenry is now a solid tool for layout simulations and impedance calculations, available on Github. #b3d #geometrynodes #engineering #science #electronics #Simulation #kicad #altium #hardware #technology #3dmodeling #pcbdesign @hackaday @EDM_eng

I’ve created procedural generators of ICs and connectors using geometry nodes. Due to the large number of different packages of ICs and connectors, it might be better to generate their models as and when needed rather than storing an unlimited number of unique 3D models. Also using the new hobby mat material from @chippwalters #b3d #geometrynodes #blender3d #electronics #engineering #science #kicad #circuits #pcbdesign #manufacturing #technology #3dmodeling

One of Blender's powerful capabilities is how quickly you can create models and concepts of just about anything. Here you can see how I create a simple model of motor rotor with electromagnets, you can use geometry nodes to speed up your modelling workflow even more and also make them procedural with animations, and it's a lot of fun too! #b3d #blender3d #electronics #hardware #science #engineering #technology #3dart #3DModel #motors

Copper coins are embedded inside PCBs to provide a low thermal resistance path for surface mount power mosfets. This demo shows how quickly you can create a cross section view of a PCB stack-up that has a copper coin inside blender! This is a procedural setup completely running on geometry nodes with gizmos to control the vias and their height. It can be useful to provide a better explanation on the stack-up of advanced PCB designs especially those that contain micro and buried vias, as well as embedded objects. #b3d #geometrynodes #engineering #electronics #pcbdesign #hardware #manufacturing #animation #3DModels #Science #art

Designing MRI coils using ElectroMag Nodes! You can visualise the magnetic field lines generated by the superconducting electromagnets in MRI machines and see how making adjustments to them impacts the strength and shape of the field lines, and especially the straightness of lines in the centre In am using the new gizmos in geometry nodes to quickly add and adjust coils. Next I will be also adding the gradient coils. #b3d #geometrynodes #blender3d #mri #art #science #physics #electronics #engineering #simulation #render
