interestingly, नाग as a sanskrit word for "elephant" doesn't seem to come from a synecdoche in which the elephant's trunk is compared to a snake (though kalidasa makes this pun), but from an older meaning like "hairless animal" which specialized into "snake" and "elephant" forms

We kind of have this in telltale, singsong, dripdrop but those are the other way around (following ablaut reduplication)
