For those who are lost and don’t know what to do now that they can’t simply quote post other people’s post or take screenshots of them, here is a quick how to guide: - step one, just do things - step two, tell us all about it. Alternatively, you could just: - go sulk in a corner - tell us all about how unfair life is - threaten to storm out and never come back (don’t let the door hit you on your way out. 😱) Once you’re done throwing yourself a pity party, you’re allowed to come back and tell us what you’re actually planning to do to improve your own life, and/or someone else’s. There’s a fork in the road right in front of you, anon. Choose your own adventure, and may you take the path which is the right one for you. If you don’t? Just level up and come back once you’re ready to actually do some hard work.

people always wake up 10 years after the fact hints: - some domains cost <$10/yr (I recommend Spaceship, they have a handy API) - Proton just works (good docs too) First time? You can be done in 10 minutes with a good agent like Hermes (or 20 with a normie chat, 30 on your own; all GUI clicks) Once you know how to do it, literally takes all of two minutes to set up a new email domain from buy to finish.
Becoming increasingly worried that Google owns the authentication service to 99% of my life through my email.

unpopular opinion: Millenials are 1981-2007 (from microcomputer to GFC and Web 2.0), 26 years Zoomers will be 2008-2038 (from GFC to ❔), 30-ish years "Alphas" are ten years away. Gen length increases because it takes longer to build a life/family, if you even can, in the 21st century. May change dramatically for the better after ❔

thing is, 1981-1994 makes no sense for a "generation" (you don't have kids at 15 yo lol). So 1981-2005 is more like it (24 years, that's more like it). Gen Z is far from being identifiable yet, but most likely something like 2006-2030 or so. It's just that marketing and the media always want to make you believe there's a new hot thing but no, 17 or 15 years is not a full generation, whether biological or in the Strauss–Howe sense of that theory. These shorter bouts are more like cultural trends, good old decades, and they do overlap or vary by country.

Just tried vibecoding with ThreeJS again (after more than 6 months) and I have to say that the models have gotten much better at coding with ThreeJS and creating 3D models from scratch.

No one outside other vibe coders care or see this kinda detail. You’re noticing a real thing with no real impact.

fix this damn Android app. and make Grok save conversations when initiated from the app's own button ffs losing good info that started from a post is the worst UX and wasted compute, a cardinal sin!

Every time I go to Paris🇫🇷 I am reminded how low-trust the French society has steadily become for 40 years. The consequences of that are dire. IYKYK (or ask some AI) It takes twice as long to come back. And it's still going downhill as we speak. What a fateful turn of a century.

This is true. Look what we have. We: - have groupthink and exclusion masquerading as diversity and inclusion - have cowardice masquerading as bravery - have sophistry masquerading as philosophy - have fanatical Sciencism masquerading as science. - have answers that cannot be questions rather than questions that cannot be answered. - have intolerance masquerading as tolerance - have public schools masquerading as education - have debt-based fiat masquerading as money. - have state sponsored stenographers masquerading as the media - have men masquerading as women - have groomers masquerading as teachers. - have the equality of outcome masquerading as the equality of opportunity - have ignorance masquerading as wisdom - have the initiation of force masquerading as governments - have experimental protocols masquerading as vaccines. - have multilegalism masquerading as multiculturalism - have equity in chains masquerading as equality in freedom. - have fascism masquerading as anti-fascism It is no measure of mental health to be well-adjusted to a profoundly sick society.

As a government if you're going all-in on totalitarian control AT THE VERY F*CK*NG LEAST DO IT WELL As it stands, France is a cybersecurity joke. Zero security culture. Zero tech culture for that matter. This is what the highest taxes in the world bought its population 💣💣💣

🦔 H100 GPUs that cost $40,000 new are now selling for around $6,000 on eBay, an 85% drop. The math on why is straightforward: it costs about 11x as much to run an H100 for inference as a B300. Anyone running H100s needs to charge dramatically more than competitors on newer hardware. Upgrading isn't simple either. At a $50,000 price tag for a B200, it takes about 33 months to break even on the upgrade from an H100. And the B300s are already making B200s less attractive. My Take I've been covering the depreciation problem in AI infrastructure for a while now. Companies are booking these GPUs on five to six year depreciation schedules when Nvidia releases new generations every two years. Michael Burry flagged Big Tech lengthening depreciation timelines as suspicious because it hides the real losses. A hedge fund manager I wrote about found that industry insiders estimate actual component lifespans at 3-10 years, but the economics don't work at any of those numbers. The hyperscalers are sitting on hundreds of thousands of GPUs that lose value every time Nvidia announces something new. David McWilliams called them "digital lettuce" because they go stale while you're still installing them. The difference between what the books say these assets are worth and what you could actually sell them for is enormous. At some point that gap has to be reconciled. H100s selling for 85% off on eBay is a preview of the writedowns coming to earnings reports. Hedgie🤗

friendly reminder that it's not because cars replaced horses that humans became horses to be replaced it makes no sense your LLM isn't you or anyone else, nor should it be; it's something else, and the synergy with you is oh so much better than having a mere clone.
🚨 SAM ALTMAN: “People talk about how much energy it takes to train an AI model … But it also takes a lot of energy to train a human. It takes like 20 years of life and all of the food you eat during that time before you get smart.”

👀 not-so-weak signal (either funny or terrifying depending on your world view) one question is whether countries with a decentralized intelligence complex will outdefend those with a strictly centralized one. certainly paints a different type of society. see you in 2040 for answers
