I believe I have now become a very big fan of haram football. There is something uniquely beautiful seeing incredibly talented attackers struggle to put a goal through in a football match.

You don’t actually have to be good at your hobbies. You can just enjoy them and be bad at them.

Started lifting weights again two weeks ago. Aged 49. The result is that everyday. An entirely different part of the body. Becomes entirely unusable.

This is a great insight about human nature, and what actually satisfies us.

A Dream Differed But for Nigeria boycotting the 1976 Olympics in Canada, my dad who had won gold at the 1st edition of the National Sports Festival in 1973 would've been an Olympian. Many Africans differed their dreams for South Africa's liberation. 📍National Stadium, Lagos.
In 1976, Nigeria pulled out of the Olympics in Canada in protest against New Zealand, whose rugby team had toured apartheid South Africa despite an international sporting boycott of the racist regime. When the IOC refused African demands to ban New Zealand from the Games, Nigeria joined 28 other African nations in walking away, even though many of their athletes had already arrived in Canada. I no longer believe in special occasions. Every day that you're alive is a special occasion. So wear that watch, those shoes, that dress. Life is short.

2am, I came to boil egg, and somehow I ended up reading through this whole thread, and the Part 2. The longest thread I’ve read, and very glad I did. What a talented story teller you are Josiah. Highly recommend. I promise it’s worth your time.
My wife had been dead for five years, but every month, I still sent $500 to her mother. I thought I was supporting an old widow in a coastal town. Then the bank told me the account had a problem....
