Many believe that the field of AI is the answer to the question "how can we create artificial (human) minds?". That's also the question that led me here. But today, I think AI is more pragmatically the answer to the question: "how can we make software do more?"

More good news. Pfizer has the six month update. *Zero* hospitalizations among the vaccinated vs. 32 among the placebo group (n=46,307). Also real life data from South Africa, where B.1.351 is dominant: zero cases of COVID among the vaccinated vs. nine in the placebo (n=800).

It takes a special kind of chutzpah to ask for free advice and then ask you to sign an NDA for the privilege of giving it. #startups

I published my first piece pleading to keep parks open & letting people socialize outdoors on April 1st 2020. I stand by every word. It wasn't that complicated. The epi data, the reasons, the sociology of a sustainable pandemic response. It was all there. theatlantic.com/health/archi…

It is amazing how many people think that they can answer an argument by attributing bad motives to those who disagree with them. Using this kind of reasoning, you can believe or not believe anything about anything, without having to bother to deal with facts or logic.

My latest: A gay dad wanted to volunteer for a parent group comprised of 10 straight women, but wasn’t approved because he’s white and wouldn’t bring enough diversity. An episode of “Portlandia”? No, just another Tuesday at the San Francisco school board. sfchronicle.com/bayarea/heat…

All businesses where most employees are working with motivation to gain status more than money, are far more vicious workplaces as status is zero sum.
