I was in Kefalonia twice in 2007. Once in July and again in early September. Yes, there were some isolated fires, and yes, the Super Scoopers were out, as they are most years, but to say the entire island was pretty much burnt down is complete bollox 🤣
Isn’t it interesting what short memories people have. I was in Kefalonia in the summer of 2007, when the entire island pretty much burnt down. It was bleak - just a barren ash landscape for many miles around. It was over 40C and too hot to go outside most days. Nobody thought that our holiday experience was remarkable or unusual, we were told that forest fires were just one of those things that happened. But there was no narrative to push back then 🤷🏼♀️
