a very clear articulation of synergy in the brain and why it's key for human-level cognition and consciousness from @loopyluppi
Brain synergy is a balance between neurons transmitting signals between each other and neurons not communicating at all; a balance of integration and segregation. What's fascinating about human brain is that evolutionary, it only grew in places that had the most synergy, and those places are not random. Meaning, you can't just enlarge a chimp's brain and get a human brain. This synergy might be key to deciphering both consciousness and cognition.

Diffusion MRI (dMRI) is a powerful tool to study white matter maturation. In our new preprint, we process and distribute a new resource of >24,000 ABCD dMRI scans using open source tools! We then evaluate how methods shape inferences about development. πŸ”— bit.ly/3QMLG0K
