Motorcycle chariots at New South Wales Police Carnival, 1936. Aussies combining something cool historical with something cool from their time and accidentally invent the 'Mad Max' genre before George Miller and Byron Kennedy did.

There's an art movement I find under-exploited in movies and video games: Formicat-punk, or Giscard-punk. (Giscard d'Estaing was a French president in the late 1970s) This retro-futuristic, typically French style fascinates me. I'd love to work on a universe like that.

reduce, reuse, recycle!
okay so first of all "dark arts" and "necromancy" are actually really loaded terms with a lot of history behind them. i prefer to call it "biorecycling" and its actually really good for the environment

Adam Carolla has an old line about how if you want to destroy somebody’s life, just give them free rent in a shitty little house. You’ll come back 30 years later and find them still living in that shitty little house, because it was just too good of a deal for them to go out and do all the things that they would’ve otherwise done to improve their lives.

It's for this reason why I believe Vietnam, maybe Malaysia, maybe one country that gets lucky with a commodities boom and uses it responsibly (Guyana which is yet to be seen, maybe Zambia if the copper boom materialises) will be the last "developed" countries as we know them.

one thing young folk will never understsand is that before ebay most things were valueless. nobody thought about the resale value of ANYTHING so life was crazy absurdly cheap if you could hack vintage. now the idea that objects are almost liquid cash has broken the system.

the more i think about this the more mad i get. the 'tute could have given the space to a small non profit arts group as a base for a hundred years... but instead they must profit in a way the artist would not have approved of.

From the Preservation Chicago newsletter. "Preservation Chicago worked closely with Preservation Partners to mount a Rapid Response advocacy campaign to landmark the Roger Brown Home and Studio. We're thrilled that the building will be protected, but we are highly disappointed by the decision of the School of the Art Institute to sell off all the contents of the collection. Liquidation was not the intent when the School of the Art Institute was entrusted with this important collection."

the art institute of chicago is some buuuulshit. As in it used to be free for anyone. Pay a penny! But nooo.. fuckers blew too much money and CHANGED THEIR CHARTER to make folks pay. took all those donations and then use em for bullshit! Shame!
