I travel the galaxy and far beyond. Got to live the life I create inside my head. Not happy to hide my big dreams anymore. Leaving all but the future far behind
𝕏 is so broken right now. Following feed is completely ruined and unusable. It says "Show 15 new posts". You click. it's the same posts you've already seen, in a different order, with only 1 new post. Can #MSX users just collectively move to BlueSky please?
Daily reminder that Aetherbyte will never succumb to the smoothbrain temptations of using AI to make games. Decades of real human effort doesn't deserve that. Work with people on stuff you can't figure out or do. We owe our predecessors that.
Also note about this logo that this was the version registered at the European Trademark Office up to 2005. This is when I noticed the actual MSX logo image was not properly trademarked. After reporting this to MSX Association, the problem was rectified. 😊✨
Sayaka repairs a Spectravideo SVI-328, a predecessor to #MSX! Aside from similar hardware, their BASIC interpreters are the only Microsoft BASIC dialects that use accurate BCD math instead of lossy floating point. The Super Expander (shown too) must've also been an inspiration!
I saved this Spectravideo SVI-328! I bought it a while ago and the repair came with a few extra surprises... Did you know it’s a close relative of the MSX? 💾
80年代のゲームにおける AI は、たいていヒューリスティックな手法が用いられていました。#MSX
The question was asked what kind of AI was used in games like ZANAC or Guardic. My answer is that in the video games of the 80s, AI was implemented using heuristic methods.
Hackers are hijacking high-profile Instagram accounts by simply asking Meta's AI chatbot to change the email on the account. Meta's AI does it, hacker gets password reset code, they're in. What a great technology!

I can't stress this enough: Don't get psyched out by AI hallucinations. AI is not smart. AI can not understand. Never trust anything an AI says.
In this case it's claiming that the timing of the LD HL,0 opcode changes due to the existence of an IX-prefix. This is utter nonsense.
After HRA!'s V9968 successor plan was cancelled, he decided to add some minor things to the final V9968. In light of this, I suggested consolidating some configuration bits. Also, HRA! has coupled one of the new features to an existing bit. This means more room for #MSX expansion
I ran out of space in the first post, but it also means less complicated control for programmers. 😄
Preventing and reducing technical debt is always a high priority for me!
.@emef2247 is enjoying MS² ~ MoonSound Music Studio on his new Sony HB-F1XDJ modified with the #MSX turboR Upgrade Board for Sony MSX2 machines! An advantage of this board compared to a real turboR is that it comes with 4MB RAM.
People misunderstanding cool ideas for MSX by Nishi-san, and dismissing them with some simple excuse that exposes their ignorance, are really getting on my nerves lately.
Maybe this can be expected from a mad scientist, but shouldn't scientists look for possibilities instead?
Nishi mentioned working on a #MSX device called SFG-10 that incorporates OPL4 and OPM and allows for up to 4 units to be installed!
OPM's 4-operator FM is in some ways superior to the OPL4's 4-operator FM, but there's a large overlap too. These chips complement eachother nicely!

Supporting OPM and OPP (SFG-01, SFG-05) in MS² has been high on my todo list too, so in my opinion this device is a very welcome development.
BTW I'm planning to do a new MS² release! Experience the first steps to v2.0 by becoming a MSX Enthusiast member!

The Datapack is not wrong here. R#25 is at FFFA.
FFF7~FFF9h are used by the system as described.
Actually, FFF9h is reserved for R#24; a new #MSX (with V9978) will use it someday.
Welcome to MSX DAY 2026!
Take a beautiful shot of your beloved #MSX computer and post it anywhere on the socials. Give it the tag #MaySiXth so everyone can easily find each other's pics all over the world, across all time zones! Let’s make this a global celebration!
