Danke, Ihr Versager @cdu @csu, @schroeder_k @peteraltmaier @BMWE_

Russia increased attacks on Ukrainian civilians again last night and carried out strikes that damaged a UNESCO World Heritage site in Kyiv. These are war crimes, and Russia will have to answer for them. In response, today we are adopting additional sanctions targeting Russia's military-industrial complex and its shadow fleet. Every measure further restricts Russia's room for manoeuvre. My press remarks ahead of today’s Foreign Affairs Council ↓

SPLAT: Another Russian Tu-22M3 strategic bomber (NATO reporting name ‘Backfire’) has crashed in Irkutsk Oblast. That’s three Tu-22s in 24 months. Aging Soviet airframes, Russian maintenance, and endless ops over Ukraine are eating Russia’s bomber fleet alive. And their strategic aviation is literally falling out of the sky. #Ukraine #Russia

Komme, was wolle. Und diese Selbstlähmung ermutigt Putin zu mehr und mehr Aggression.
Zelenskyy has shown the aftermath of the enemy attack on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. According to the President, it has been confirmed that two russian drones deliberately targeted the part of Kyiv where the Lavra and the Mystetskyi Arsenal are located. Across Ukraine, 11 people are confirmed dead and 53 injured as a result of the overnight massive russian strike. "I have instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and our entire diplomatic team to maximize all contacts with partners today so that the international events of this week and next week yield real results for strengthening our defense and increasing global pressure on russia for this war. A just response to this russian strike is necessary," Zelenskyy concluded.

Russia has also attacked the "Mystetsky Arsenal" in Kyiv. For context: The "Mystetsky Arsenal" is a national cultural, art, and museum center. Russia: We never attack civilian targets. Reality: Russia attacks almost exclusively civilian targets.

Overnight on June 15, a Russian strike set fire to the Oleksandr Dovzhenko National Film Studio. The blaze destroyed the costume workshop, erasing Ukraine’s largest and oldest costume collection — some 100,000 costumes and three million garments kept by generations of studio staff since the 1950s.

8-hour battery storage is operating in Australia and more is coming! This 50 MW/400 MWh battery plant is a key piece of tech to reach nearly 100% RE. It will mostly charge when solar generation is high and discharge when the sun goes down. pv-magazine-australia.com/20…

The Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra was hit by a Russian "Geran-2" drone manufactured in Alabuga. ‼️ Ukraine’s National Commission for UNESCO condemned Russian strikes on several cultural institutions in Ukraine, including the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. The @UKRinUNESCO called on the international community to prevent Russia from participating in key @UNESCO bodies. The Commission emphasized that the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a cultural landmark under enhanced protection in accordance with the 1954 Hague Convention and its Second Protocol. The Commission also highlighted the cultural institutions damaged in the Russian attack: 🔹 Mystetskyi Arsenal National Culture of Arts and Museum Complex, 🔹 National Palace of Arts "Ukraine", 🔹 Kyiv National University of Theatre, Cinema and Television named after Ivan Karpenko-Karyi, 🔹 House of Organ and Chamber Music in Dnipro, 🔹 Kharkiv Art Museum, 🔹 National Film Studio named after Oleksandr Dovzhenko. "We call on the international community to stop tolerating these crimes, to increase political, economic, and legal pressure on the aggressor state, and to take decisive measures to end Russian aggression as soon as possible," the statement reads. Furthermore, the Commission appealed to the leadership of the UNESCO Secretariat, demanding a "harsh and clear reaction" on their part, as well as the utilization of the tools available to the UNESCO Executive Board, the Committee for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict, and the UNESCO World Heritage Committee. Ukraine has called on UNESCO experts to visit the damaged institutions, document the aftermath of the Russian strikes, and provide an impartial assessment. 📹: PM Svyrydenko showed the aftermath of the Russian attack on the Cathedral
Metropolitan Epiphanius of Kyiv and All Ukraine: One more Russian crime against humanity, against history, against Christianity. "As a result of the Russian shelling that is taking place now, on the night of June 15, the roof of one of the holiest places in the Christian world is burning - the Assumption Cathedral of the Pechersk Lavra in Kyiv. We ask for prayer to save the shrine from destruction. One more Russian crime against humanity, against history, against Christianity. What else must the Kremlin's antichrist do so that the world realizes that it is necessary to act decisively so that the Russian terror against Ukraine and the very principles of peace stops? Holy Virgin Mary, stop the Herod!"

A Russian Tu-22M3 strategic bomber based in the Belaya air base in Irkutsk, went down and got totally destroyed. At the moment there is no news what caused the crash or what is the status of the crew. In the past the air base was struck by Ukrainian drones during the Spiderweb operation almost exactly a year ago. Whatever it was, type Tu-22M3 strategic bombers are frequently the carrier of missile attacks against Ukraine. Seeing one of them going down less than 24h after the Russian attack against the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra Monastery is quite extraordinary.

Again and again, Russia kills the people and destroys the cultural sites it says it went to war to protect. These crimes will end when the US supplies missile defense to Ukraine and enforces sanctions on Russian energy. theguardian.com/world/2026/j…
