Quantum computing sounds awesome, and it legitimately is. Every computer you’ve ever used thinks in 1s and 0s, like a light switch. On / off. But quantum computers work differently, by exploiting the physics of subatomic particles to exist in multiple states simultaneously, they can explore all possibilities at once. Queue David Byrne, but this isn’t a naïve melody. What sounds like sci-fi is coming, soon enough, and therein lies a critical infrastructure gap.
