Saddened to read of the passing of Dave Chapman, the ex-landlord of the Albion pub in Goldsmiths Row. The Albion was the home to great football memorabilia (mainly #WBA & #Celtic).
More so, Dave was a brilliant guy, with so many wonderful stories. Thoughts with his loved ones

EXCL: Andy Burnham has credible plan to return to Westminster โwithin weeksโ with GM mayor expected to use a byelection fight to set out new agenda for government, allies say.
Burnham, who was blocked by NEC from running in Gorton & Denton, has identified several seats where MPs are prepared to step aside for his leadership bid.
In a sign that his campaign is more progressed than previously thought, Burnhamโs team is understood to have lined up an โimpressiveโ candidate to replace him as Greater Manchester mayor.

Sorry but the counties all backed the T20 reduction, they can't have their cake now. Only Gloucs to make a profit is surely a worry for those of us at Worcs after paying down the debt this year. This is all stuff that's been known about for ages but the horse has bolted.

In the early 2000s @surreycricket were averaging about 33k spectators at County Championship home games each season.
In 2025, the total was over 80k, an increase of >140%.
And increase in average per game is even higher at 175%.
That is some progress. #countycricket

15k for a Championship game in April is really striking.
When Andy Cook & I analysed county cricket attendance in 2000/02, the highest attendance for a @surreycricket home game was < 7k.
Are other counties experiencing anything similar @ECB_cricket?

How far the @VitalityBlast has fallen. What used to be guaranteed full houses at Lords reduced to 3 days. Absolute hats off to @surreycricket and @Middlesex_CCC for joint advertising again. The game is better off working together.

I only really took to rugby league properly after leaving the heartlands. Despite having a season ticket through uni. This day was something special though. The fact I've seen us several times away but never at home since says it all
