This is, unfortunately, the pace of international climate action, despite the urgency that world leaders claim to recognise.
✊Only with domestic and international civil society pressure can we hope to accelerate these processes.

🇪🇺Last week @WBHoekstra had his hearing in the @EUparliament.
He talked about the phase out of fossil fuel subsidies, but we weren't impressed.
He claims that he wants "to go all out". But he is already giving up, before even starting his work.

🙄We would really like to see more than some self back-patting by countries that committed 15 years ago to phase out fossil subsidies.
It's not easy. But it's not 15 year-difficult either. We are looking forward to seeing much more than this level of effort #StopFossilSubsidies

Apparently, when the Dutch minister of climate Sophie Hermans @MinisterKGG said that transparency is a “hard task”, she wasn’t lying.
It only appears that it is a hard task if you put very little effort in it.

At COP28 countries launched the #COFFIS coalition to #StopFundingFossils
They had promised to release their fossil fuel subsidy inventories by COP29 & many did
But Canada missed the deadline
@cafreeland & @s_guilbeault: we need transparency - release the inventory now!
