Beautiful work, showing radial cell behaviours in #morphogenesis, similarly to my previous work ⁦@MRC_LMB⁩ ⁦in @katjaroeper⁩ lab. “Radially patterned morphogenesis of murine hair follicle placodes ensures robust epithelial budding” cell.com/developmental-cell/…

Our latest on planar polarity mechanisms. Painstaking work by Alexandre Carayon, investigating mechanisms of cell-scale polarisation in the fly wing. Enjoy it (if this is your thing)! @struttlab @UK_Wnt @MCB_Sheffield @DRN_Sheffield

Matakatsu and Fehon @UChicagoBSD show that Dachsous and Fat function together to restrict growth by coordinately removing a “core complex” consisting of Dachs, Dlish, and Approximated from the junctional cortex. hubs.la/Q02SmKvR0 #CellSignaling #Development

For my planar polarity follower(s?), we have a new paper out on Fat-Dachsous. Fat-Dachsous are known to interact (signal?) in trans between cells, but we now find a second (more important!) trans-interaction suggesting new models for Fat-Ds clustering sciencedirect.com/science/ar…

Can't argue with first read the Drosophila papers, but read the frog, fish and mouse ones too!
John Wallingford @jbwallingford is next “When in doubt, read drosophila papers” And that is how John arrived to the study of planar cell polarity (PCP) John is sharing his & his team’s most recent work on PCP in Xenopus biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/… biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/… He also shared his growing efforts to communicate science broadly aeon.co/essays/after-3000-ye… #spemannmangold2024 @UniFreiburg

Our latest on planar polarity mechanisms: sciencedirect.com/science/ar… No long thread (be grateful!) but the highlights are in the graphical abstract. We're excited because after decades of work we think we're moving towards a molecular understanding of what the proteins do.
