The richest guy on Earth SHOULD be the guy making cutting edge cars and rockets instead of dudes who sell purses and perfumes or dudes who run investment firms or dudes who made Facebook.

Every year, I share this video of French caretakers who take sand from Omaha Beach in Normandy, and scrub them into the letters to give them the gold coloring. They do this for all 9,386 US soldiers who died. France also gave us this land as American soil. #MemorialDayWeekend

Country music in Nashville is a template. They sit around and use the following words just mixed up differently and sung by different people: 1. Truck 2. Friday night 3. Solo cup 4. Party 5. Tailgate 6. Beer 7. Cold beer 8. Ice cold beer 9. Fishing 10. Blue jeans Its the same buzzwords simply recycled, repackaged and re-marketed. And people eat it up. It’s incredible and awful.

Experience. Prusa e.g. Value isn't perceived until you have the experience of a. building one with their awesome instructions b. when it fails, learning from the community and experiencing their technical support and c. when it finally works as intended, having gained experience and made a few friends. Prusa is an experience. A learning experience, a networking experience, and a life-changing experience. Bambu Lab took that experience and stripped away the best parts and tried to replace it with turnkey features that defeated the point of my own dive into 3D Printing. I didn't just want to print stuff. I wanted to learn something, to experience what it was like to build something that builds something, and I wanted to have real conversations with people in the industry when it came to solving my printer's issues. BL did not deliver. Prusa did. The experience I got pays for itself. The price offset in printers doesn't include this.

Only when you drive the Cybertruck do you realize how incredible it is: a bulletproof tank that moves like a million dollar sports car! Reason for the angular shape is that the thick, ultra-hard stainless steel body panels cannot be stamped like the thin, feeble, paper-strength mild steel of other trucks. Cybertruck body panels would break 5000 ton stamping machines.
One of Elon's most vocal critics just bought a Cybertruck. Brian Krassenstein, who has spent years publicly clashing with @elonmusk, announced the purchase yesterday. His reason had nothing to do with politics. He has a young family and the Cybertruck is the only pickup truck in America to hold both an IIHS Top Safety Pick award and a perfect 5-star NHTSA rating simultaneously. When your fiercest critics are buying your product because the data leaves them no choice, that's a different kind of win.

Once you compress incentives from the top-down and say, "It doesn't matter how much you earn I'm going to take the lion's share away," they say, "Alright, I'm no longer going to do the lion's part." Then they stop creating the extra wealth which would benefit both themselves and society as a whole.

Will not help your cause if nobody can see what you’re saying I no longer support the EFF although I have donated in the past. This decision made me question their judgement.

The EFF is leaving for Bluesky and Mastodon where "they will have more impact." Who's gonna tell them? 🤣

Nerd Intermezzo: I just love modern electronics. You can now get tiny DC/DC controllers that literally only take 2 more parts over a simple voltage regulator and give you 2A output, a 3.8-32V input range, stellar efficiency and built-in EMI suppression. I used the 5V fixed variant of this little bugger in one of my designs and it is almost forbidden how easy it is to implement. I know many are stuck with their favorite parts from 20 years ago but man are you missing out.

This is a childish tantrum. I thought better of EFF when I worked with them to stop the Clipper Chip. But that was a long time ago.

After almost twenty years on the platform, EFF is logging off of X. This isn’t a decision we made lightly, but it might be overdue. 🧵(1/5)

I've been to dozens of concerts in my life, most of which I loved, but I was ALWAYS ready to be done by the time 90 minutes in. My first concert was The Scorpions and Def Leppard, but it was 3 hours long! That was until last year, when I started wearing AirPods in noise-cancellation mode. Stayed for the encores and loved it. I was surprised they could generate strong enough inverted audio waves to challenge concert levels, but even if they're just serving in a passive role, it's enough. For me, even when you know and like the music, concert audio levels and visuals add up pretty quickly. The AirPods can double that endurance by shaving 20 dB off!
Asking autistics, how do you feel about concerts and festivals?

I never used Twitter back then because it was a liberal echo chamber of people affirming each other's values. It was boring. Now, it's interesting.

Trump in this SNL skit. Trump may actually have lots of money but he is one of us. I like how he is direct and not fake in everything he says and still can laugh at himself and make us laugh! 😂
