So we’re clear:
The Supreme Court ended affirmative action yesterday by saying you CAN’T discriminate by helping a minority group, then turned around today and said you CAN discriminate by hurting them.
“Early interactions can be profoundly impactful in complex adaptive systems
Simple rules:
1) progress over perfection
2) be kind & candid
3) diversity is valuable”
These simple rules can and do lead to complex interactions and behaviours

People and events and crowds can be tiring for me, but I'm so so glad I had a chance to speak at #WTFisSRE yesterday -- lovely audience, great questions. @containersoli put on a fantastic conference, and I got to see old friends and meet new and interesting folks!
Platform engineering seems ready for a "maturity model." The talented crew at @syntasso took a swing at this, solicited industry feedback, and has now submitted this model to a CNCF working group.
Give it a read and add suggestions.

Just went to a great session with @tom_geraghty on advanced psych safety, which included systems thinking. Yesterday's #rejects2023 talk from @lianmakesthings was top of mind for me. So many good ideas on teams as systems that you need to keep safe.
For @wsj to say flat out that SVB could have failed because they added non-white men to their board shows how far behind the times (and certifiably stupid) this publication really is. It makes me so angry and very sad. WSJ readers and staff deserve better.
A little over 3 years ago, on October 28, 2019, I pulled these training pants out of the box and paused before putting them on my 3yo daughter…
