So, I've decided that reading books is like a never-ending Ponzi scheme: I read a book, and come away from it with at least three more I want to read.

Then I realised, one of the things I am looking forward to about eternity in the new creation, is finally having time to read all those books and more!

A line in an article I read today that really struck me: "It is folly to think generosity depends upon abundance. If you will not give out of your lack, you will not give out of your plenty."

Staggering statistics. How can 40% *not* read one book in a year?? What are they doing with their lives? 🤷‍♂️
Everyone talks about the growing Wealth Gap, but there's also a growing Reading Gap: • 40% of adults read 0 books a year. • 40% of adults read <10 books a year. • 4% of adults read 50 or more books a year. In total, 19% of adults do 82% of the country's book reading.

Twice this week our parliament has tried to alleviate burdens — at the beginning and end of life. But we’re not meant to eliminate burdens, we’re meant to carry them:

It’s lucky we have a famously competent state, a well-funded health service, & courts with plenty of time on their hands, or I’d be worrying that this is a terrible decision

. @TrevinWax Thank you for that last segment of the latest Reconstructing Faith podcast. A beautiful word picture of what it means to be church. I will be listening to that over and over again. Appreciating and enjoying the challenges of this series.

I’m an oncologist and I love my job. But I’m striking because I know first-hand that the NHS is failing our patients with cancer and I’m striking because I know first-hand that the NHS is failing its workforce. lucygossage.com/my-reasons-f… #ConsultantsStrike

Tim Keller was by God's grace a pillar of the faith, in my opinion the leading author and preacher of this generation. We will miss him, but his clear teaching still remains to lead us closer to his Saviour, Jesus, in whose presence he is now rejoicing. No more pain or death.
With great sadness we mourn the loss of TGC co-founder Timothy Keller, 72, who died today, more than three years after he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Why this day is "good". I am not, I have nothing in myself. It's all because of Him. He said I could come to Him.
The man on the middle cross said I could come.
