ALT The Arctic Ocean is under increasing pressure from climate change, with sea ice loss, ocean acidification, warming and freshening occurring more rapidly in the Arctic compared to the rest of the global ocean. This event considers what is needed to protect this vulnerable ecosystem. We bring together a range of voices to discuss what roles different players have and how best to move science forward in order to allow Indigenous and local communities to adapt to changing conditions. Whilst also raising critical considerations for mitigation and future sustainable use of the Arctic Ocean. ALT The announcement that Plymouth is to be the national centre for marine autonomy, made by the Right Honourable Maria Eagle, Minister of State (Defence Procurement and Industry), will catapult the city and its expertise into the spotlight.

ALT The Pavilion is a free online platform dedicated to raising the visibility of the ocean and showcasing why the ocean matters in climate negotiations and to all life on our planet. It aims to democratize access to ocean and climate discussions and resources during climate conferences. The initiative attracted registrations from 138 countries for COP29 and is now celebrating its fifth edition. This event will also mark the opening of the registration process to gain access to a wide selection of features available from 3 to 21 November 2025 - including live events, roundtable discussions, interactive exhibits, our COP30 Ocean Events overview, and much more.

ALT The summit in Tokyo will continue action-based conversations on the key themes from recent World Ocean Summits, and provide a vital platform for participants from Asia to engage with the global ocean community ahead of the UN Oceans Conference.

ALT Coordinated by US-based Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and Scripps Institution of Oceanography and supported by partner institutes and organisations from across the world, the Baku Ocean Declaration highlights the importance of comprehensive ocean monitoring for predicting future warming, assessing emissions reductions, and developing effective climate adaptation plans.

ALT The 'Bridging ocean and freshwater challenges through collective science, industry and policy action’ side event brought the ocean and freshwater sector together to discuss and identify opportunities for collaboration across sectors, policy and expertise for healthy ecosystems and decisive climate action. The recording will be available at a later date and plans are underway for progressing the discussion, including at the 3rd UN Ocean Conference in Nice 2025.
