Isn't it just weirď that people living paycheck to paycheck are supposed to have months worth of savings for emergencies while billion dollar corporations are so poorly managed they're on the brink of bankruptcy after a week of reduced profits

Scotland’s Andy Robertson has found a hack to beat FIFA’s new throw-in countdown: Get your team-mates in position before you pick the ball up, which starts the referee’s countdown. Very smart 👏 👏 👏 #Robertson #HAISCO #Scotland

No surprise that a man who spent a lifetime in the institutionalised military and who has been an MP for just two years can’t say where he would find defence money other than “benefits”. He has no real life experience, having lived off the tax payer his entire life! @bbclaurak

There’s nothing “courageous” about taking money away from people who are disabled, long term sick, mentally unwell or dying- but Labour have done this by halving LCWRA and are prepared to do it again rather than tax wealthy tax evaders. Labour shame. #Bbclaurak

A former Tory, parachuted into a safe seat against the wishes of the local party, two years experience as an MP. Ask yourself- how many MPs in hock to arms companies would back him- and why? Sounds a bit iffy to me. I don’t want a military coup in disguise. #Carns
What this country needs now is LEADERSHIP, determination, intelligence, ‘nouse’ and strategic ability. You don’t get to be a full Colonel in the Marines at 40 without those qualities. As a Labour member, if @AlistairCarns stands, he’ll get my vote & suport #BBClauraK

They’ve decided benefits must pay for bombs. Not their ineptitude, their subsidised food, housing and heating costs, travel expenses, child allowances, etc etc. Let’s just kick the most vulnerable who can’t fight back #bbclaurak
Dear @KemiBadenoch £100 Bn general waste by the Tories. £148 Mn owed by Michelle Mone. £1.6 Bn stop the boats barge £21 Bn handed to covid fraudsters £471 Mn in total paid to destroy PPE not needed/in storage too long. = £123,219,000,000 What have you to say about that?

My sky essentials package is running a minute later than tweets saying “goal!” Frustrating.

2 hours nap, but I’m awake. Goodness knows how long for! #Scotland Last time I remember doing this was for Torvill and Dean in 1984.

Travelling on the train, this is what a #wheelchair user has to face - and that's after 5 other bikes were removed by the riders upon instruction by the conductor. I'm still stuck halfway in the aisle!

Here’s an idea, cut MPs expenses (£242.6 million) , freeze their pay, stop catering/alcohol being subsidised (£7 million to £8 )million, House of Lords catering (£3 million) stop daily rate (£23 m total costs £143 mill) Because difficult choices have to be made to pay 4 defence

The 1st duty of government is to keep its citizens safe. This doesn't just mean from foreign invasion, as so many MPs seem to think, it also means safe from want & disease. #JeremyCorbyn is one of the few politicians to understand this. Because Mr #Corbyn has real human empathy.
We do not need to spend more money on bombs and bullets. We need to spend more on housing, schools and our NHS instead. A roof over your head. Enough food to feed your children. A public health service you can rely on in your time of need. That is what real security means.

New: Morgan McSweeney is back advising the Prime Minister – four months after he resigned over his role in the Mandelson scandal. The former No 10 chief of staff is advising Sir Keir Starmer in his moment of greatest peril, multiple government and Whitehall sources told The i Paper. McSweeney is helping the Prime Minister and has “never really gone away”, one minister said. “He has been on the end of the phone 24/7,” one source said. “He has been wargaming a leadership contest and believes Keir still has a chance if there are three or more [challengers] in the contest. He has been working out how the votes could go. It’s mad.” Exclusive with Richard Vaughn

We’ve already got the 3rd (?)highest defence spend in Europe. Far more than Norway, Sweden and Denmark where public spending on healthcare, education and infrastructure is rightfully prioritised. We are not an Empire any longer and don’t want to line the pockets of US contractors
General Sir Richard Barrons spelling out the narrative thats being pushed: the sick & disabled, kids in poverty, pensioners, they all need to suffer so we can have more bombs.

#Newsnight: Still a Reserve Officer, nudge nudge wink wink, #AlCarns was a Conservative-voting Colonel in the Special Forces, nudge nudge wink wink, until June 2024, when he resigned his commission and joined the #LabourParty after the General Election had been called. He was then parachuted in a new sense, into the Birmingham Selly Oak seat that had been vacated at the last possible moment by Steve McCabe, Parliamentary Chair of #Labour Friends of #Israel. The General Election was on 4 July. On 9 July, Carns was made a #Defence Minister. davidaslindsay.blogspot.com/…

“Is it bullets or benefits?” Ferrari on @LBC. Nobody considers chasing tax evaders Covid con merchants for the money they have fleeced from us. Maybe they should just give the disabled the bullets and cut out the DWP. Other countries manage both defence and social security.
