I've (more or less) finished a map I've been chipping away at, depicting the rapid transit services of NYC in the late 1930s before they started to take down the elevated lines. Will probably keep tweaking it but thought it was time to post. transbayblog.com/new-york-ci…

Too many children have been struck and killed by cars speeding through our streets. I fought to include Sammy’s Law in the budget and was proud to sign it into law so that New York City can lower their speed limits, combat preventable crashes, and save lives.

Yes, let's be reasonable: double the fee to $30, and start collecting it on June 30.
Hochul was on CNBC this morning. On whether congestion pricing will come back after the November elections: "I will say right now: $15 is not the right price. That does not mean it's gone forever, but let's just be reasonable." youtube.com/watch?v=QtLodnVz…

My kingdom, such that it is, to live long enough to see Democrats advance a transportation policy platform, the pillars of which exclude coddling drivers, preserving parking, and waiving parking fees.

For the first time the MTA has reliable city level data showing the average speed of traffic - and it is the slowest ever over the past 12 months in history. Congestion pricing needs to become a reality.

My head hurts
Kirsten Gillibrand is on @BrianLehrer pitching alternatives to congestion pricing's clean-air benefits, suggests 20 years to build "hubs" outside the city where people could park their cars & take the train, a concept more popularly known as "parking lots at train stations"

"But have you considered the noxious volatility of a few hypothetical New Jersey motorists who deserve the luxury of driving their own car, without paying for the privilege, to their favorite transit-adjacent diner?" -Governor Kathy Hochul, probably

Ground-level ozone, a harmful air pollutant, forms when volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and nitrogen oxides (NOx), primarily emitted by motor vehicles, react in the presence of sunlight. Mass transportation can reduce these emissions and protect air quality.

She comes so close, and yet remains so far off base. It would almost be comic how car-addled the brains of American politicians are, if it were not for that having such deleterious effects on our environment and public health, among other things.

It's A Fair Answer
MTA big Janno “It’s A Fair Question” Lieber has a very short answer to a fair question from ⁦@ndhapple⁩. “No.”

Seems bad, maybe just charge drivers to bring their bulky, polluting metal boxes into a crowded, congested, transit-rich central business district.
Delaying #NYC's #congestionpricing puts @MTA's credit rating at risk, according to S&P. bloomberg.com/news/articles/… via @business

Never thought I'd see "congestion pricing" as a trending topic on Twitter. I assume all posts are enthusiastically supportive.
