COVAX vaccine doses have been ramping up in recent weeks. On December 5, #COVAX delivered 19 million doses on a single day. Today, over 8⃣0⃣0⃣ million doses have been shipped worldwide🌍 "The ice jam seems finally to have broken." - @DrRHatchett @gavi | @WHO | @UNICEF
#COVAX has now delivered more than 800 million doses around the world and allocated 1.4 billion doses. Dramatic inequalities still exist between low- and high-income countries but we have made progress in the largest and most complex vaccine roll-out in history.

What is it with Boris Johnson and buses? They’ve been bendy, they’ve spread Brexit lies, and now he’s throwing his #ChristmasParty team under one

THREAD: latest covid situation in UK (mainly England) and what I think is going on... TLDR: I *do* think there has been a recent drop in transmission, due to combo of different things. Might not be quite as big as seems and might not last. (22 tweets)

NEW: lots of attention on ONS Infection Survey today, but some confusion over how it should (and should not) be used to asses whether England’s fall in cases is "real" Quick thread: Most attention has gone on ONS “% of people testing positive” metric showing a continued rise

Trying to find the epidemiology textbook that says that every single form of study design is invalid and unethical, except for the use of fear-inducing floating numerators. Anyone any ideas which one it is?

If you’re sceptical about Covid vaccines working, please take a moment to look at this graph. And please chat to an NHS nurse or doctor if you’re still unsure about getting vaccinated. We’d love to help 🙏
