This is LONG but: “All Hail The Queen” 👑 Rosemary Scapicchio has been the absolute bulldog of this entire saga, and her impact cannot be overstated. While the Karen Read case dominated the headlines, Scapicchio was quietly and aggressively fighting a massive legal battle behind the scenes that has blown the doors off the entire thing. She saw the "institutional rot" before almost anyone else did and realized that if Michael Proctor was behaving this way while investigating Myles King, he was doing it to other people, too. Those people NEEDED to know and she was going to see to it. She Stopped the Feds from Destroying the Evidence! This is her biggest victory. There was a federal destruction order that was set to wipe out Proctor's iCloud and phone data that had been gathered during the federal probe. Scapicchio rushed to court alongside other defense attorneys and successfully fought to have that order extended, forcing the federal government to preserve the materials. If she hadn't intervened, those thousands of vile, unredacted texts might have literally been deleted forever.  Scapicchio represents Myles King, a Black man facing a first-degree murder charge who was also investigated by Proctor. She tenaciously argued that Proctor's documented bigotry in the Read case proved he was incapable of conducting an unbiased investigation. She didn't just want the texts about Read; she demanded over a decade of his personal communications to prove a systemic pattern of racism and misogyny. When Scapicchio subpoenaed Proctor to appear in court for a hearing regarding these records, he decided to just not show up, his lawyer later said he was on a pre-planned vacation. Scapicchio immediately blasted him on camera, loudly pointing out that he "thinks he's above the law." She refused to let him quietly dodge accountability. Sound familiar? Because of her relentless push for discovery in the Myles King case, Karen Read's civil team was able to access the exact same records to build their explosive lawsuit. The town of Rutland Massachusetts has canceled its huge annual Fourth of July celebration that has been happening in Rutland for over 100 years! Last week the residents of Rutland voted down a massive override that would’ve resulted in huge property tax increases for many of the residents. This includes senior citizens that cannot afford the increase. Today residence of Rutland learned that the town has decided to cancel the Fourth of July festivities this year. Yes this is the 250th anniversary of our country! July 4th festivities in Rutland have always been funded by private donations. They are telling the residence that this is not a money problem, they are saying that we don’t have enough police officers and first responders to staff the festivities. They are blaming this on the failed override. In past years, most of these essential workers have been brought from other communities to help manage this large annualevent in Rutland. Shame on the corrupt politicians that are using a failed override vote to punish citizens of Central Massachusetts and Rutland! It’s just another day and the people’s Republic of Massachusetts!
