This week, U-Learn participated in the JLIRP 2.0 Theory of Change workshop convened by the @Mglsd_UG . We were glad to contribute evidence from the @URRI_Danida learning needs scoping to help inform the JLIRP 2.0 learning agenda and future priorities for refugee self-reliance.

The Community Priorities Assessment ulearn-uganda.org/community-… shows that access to healthcare stands out as one of the most urgent needs. At a time when public health preparedness and prevention are more important than ever, strengthening these health systems is critical.

Earlier this week, an important milestone was marked in advancing locally led refugee response in Uganda with the official handover of the Localisation Strategy for the Uganda Refugee Response to the @MoLGUganda #EvidenceInPractice #Localisation @URRI_Danida @savechildrenug

The Minister of State for Relief, Disaster Preparedness and Refugees @LillianAber has today chaired the 25th Comprehensive Refugee Response Framework Steering Group meeting at Sheraton Hotel on behalf of the Senior Minister Hon. Hilary Onek. The meeting discussed, among others, Uganda’s refugee response priorities for 2026 and the response’s funding situation.

Opportunity Bank hosted over 150 active farmers in the Nakivale Refugee Settlement, bringing them together to introduce and train them on a digitized climate-proofing tool. This tool will support our lending officers in assessing farmers’ climate practices and equipping them with the knowledge needed to build sustainable, climate-resilient farming systems within the settlement. Farmers received hands-on training in agroforestry, aquaculture, organic manure and fertilizer use, ecotourism, clean and renewable energy, and apiculture. The sessions were led by Mr. Lauren Aryatwijuka, the Isingiro–Lugaaga Subcounty District Agriculture Officer, and Farouk Ssekamate, Opportunity Bank’s Agriculture & Microfinance Manager, who facilitated the digitized climate-proofing module. The efforts were honored and supported by @Ambonna , Opportunity Bank’s Chief Relationship Officer. Participants also had the opportunity to experience practical demonstrations in aquaculture, organic manure application, and agroforestry at the farm of a refugee farmer who is also a beneficiary of the Biodiversity Financing Facility.
