Strike organizers and student leaders from MOs DSU currently in meeting with Vice Chancellor Monroe Gordon. He's mostly responding to leaders with empty promises of advocacy and claims that he doesn't have power to do anything. #StrikeForOurSafety@UCLA@UCLAPresident
I dropped into UCLA this morning in support of students who are fighting for hybrid instruction options for disabled and immunocompromised students. Many in the school's administration have been granted this option. The students should have it as well. This pandemic isn't over!
While @UCLA returned to in-person classes this week, some students are on strike to support @dsuucla push for a permanent hybrid learning option. "This is a matter of accessibility"

ALT We as the Disabled Student Union (DSU) urge UCLA to reassess their stance regarding hybrid learning. Since August, our organization has openly advocated for remote learning being available to any student that may need it, as we are actively attending UCLA in the midst of an ongoing global pandemic. Our previous petition has garnered over 28,400 signatures in support of access to remote education that the administration has refused to adopt.
ALT Fall Quarter saw over 1400 confirmed cases in students and faculty despite a 98% vaccination rate; this is also with only 1.8% students being required to test regularly. We have no idea how many infections actually occurred on or near campus. In order to prevent future outbreaks, protect the most vulnerable students, and provide a more sustainable model for our education, we urge UCLA to implement a hybrid learning model following their planned two-week period of remote learning.
ALT We would like to clarify that we are not asking for remote only classes. Rather, we are advocating for giving students the agency and option in their education (which we are paying for) to attend classes remotely if they do not deem it safe to attend in-person. This will not only benefit immunocompromised students, but students with dependents, commuter students, students who test positive, students who are exposed to COVID, students who live with at-risk family members, and numerous more groups.
ALT We urge UCLA to immediately and permanently implement a hybrid learning model that allows students to access their education both in person and remotely.

We just heard testimony from a non-disabled international student in support of our cause. Revoking remote learning means they cannot see their family, including an immunocompromised family member. Remote access is for EVERYONE. #UCLAbleist@UCLA
Around 175 students gathered on campus and via livestream on Friday to protest UCLA's failure to address the Disabled Student Union's petition. The petition urged UCLA administrators to provide more accommodations for students with disabilities. dailybruin.com/2021/10/09/di…
Great to see disabled students at @ucla, @AccessUc and @UWMadison in the US fighting for disabled students not to be forgotten as we move into the next stage of the pandemic.
Did you know that @UCLA only has 1 disability specialist for every 700 students? They also do not have an ADA Compliance Officer. How is that acceptable? #UCLAbleist#WhyDisabledStudentsDropOut
two sidewalks at @ucla randomly blocked off, in which a person in a wheelchair would need to turn around, enter the street, and then cross the street to get to the other side of the sidewalk. On the right picture, the gate was blocking/protecting nothing.
Westwood is the most expensive rental market in the state of California. 1 in 20 UCLA students are affected by homelessness.
We need to use all tools at our disposal to address student housing insecurity and Safe Parking can help many students experiencing homelessness.
