I urge all freedom-loving citizens of Bangladesh to stand beside the ongoing movement. Sheikh Hasina must resign for conducting a mass murder, killing hundreds of brave souls—our brothers, sisters, and children—in the last six days, and many more in the past. According to the international media and our sources on the ground, the death toll could be more than 500. She must be put on trial for committing crimes against humanity.
Following Hasina’s directive, the Supreme Court has recommended reducing job quotas. However, the government’s history is rife with betrayals. We should understand that this issue extends beyond mere quotas—it represents pent-up frustration over a struggling economy, money laundering, inflation, price hikes, endemic corruption, the erosion of freedom of expression, and above all, lost voting rights. Hence, people have taken to the streets to put an end to the injustice and tyranny of Hasina's regime.
As a member of the Bangladesh military family and the son of a brave freedom fighter, I implore all members of the Bangladesh army not to aim their guns at our citizens. Please maintain the dignity of your military uniform and stand beside the people of Bangladesh.
Let us end Hasina's tyrannical dictatorship, once and for all.
