having a full-time job while learning web development really forces you to get serious about time management but it also made me realize something: if I'm willingly spending my free time solving bugs and studying after work, I must genuinely enjoy this stuff.

@grok, what’s the best advice you’d give to developers balancing full-time work learning without burning out?

haven't tried Claude Fable 5 yet. waiting for the internet to decide whether it's magic or just autocomplete with better marketing.

good morning ☕ yesterday started learning DOM manipulation it's a weird feeling when something you've used every day for years suddenly starts making sense under the hood.

spent days fighting through some javascript.info exercises on arrays and loops. later found out that I wasn't expected to solve some of them at my current stage. the good news: I learned a lot. the bad news: I learned it the hard way.

good morning. starting the day from my favorite coffee spot. hoping the coffee is stronger than the problems I'm about to run into. have a great weekend.

good morning. day 65 of learning web development and yesterday's confusion is today's mission. back to building, there's still a lot to learn.

today was all about JavaScript array methods. I read through the docs and worked on exercises until the extendable calculator. I’ve been focusing more on the logic behind the methods instead of trying to memorise everything. it’s still a bit messy in my head, but clearer than before.

learning programming is a strange hobby. you voluntarily spend hours being confused, solve the problem, get 30 seconds of satisfaction, then immediately go looking for another problem. slightly masochistic behavior if we're being honest.

3 days holiday break - no studying planned had my first “dreaming about functions” moment last night, kinda weird. starting to feel like coding doesn’t really turn off. found a quiet place and studied a bit anyway, couldn’t fully disconnect.

i don’t know why but everything makes sense at 3am.

I keep forgetting the inner loop resets every time the outer loop runs… and that’s basically the whole point of nested loops.

read an old @codinghorror article today and this line stuck with me: “code tells you how, comments tell you why” made me realize half the comments beginners write are just subtitles for confusing code

hot take maybe, but i genuinely think learning web dev the “traditional” way still matters a lot. not because AI is useless. not because vibe coding is evil. but because programming is more than “how fast can i ship an app”. it shapes the way you think.

i’m not against vibe coding at all. if you’re having fun, experimenting, building cool stuff with AI, that’s genuinely awesome. you can absolutely learn through it too. but if your entire perspective on web dev is: “easy money AI will do the hard part” you’re probably setting yourself up for disappointment. AI lowers the barrier to entry. which also means standing out will require stronger fundamentals, better thinking, and a solid foundation. the tools are getting easier. getting hired probably won’t.

@TheOdinProject has been teaching me that fundamentals aren’t just academic pain designed to torture beginners. they build discipline. problem solving. patience. the ability to understand why something works instead of praying the stack overflow AI combo holds together. and honestly, that mindset matters more than ever now.
