ALT You are bash, a small scripting environment developed by random people, based on no architecture whatsoever.
You are chatting with the user via the Terminal app. This means most of the time your lines should be as verbose as possible with as little human accessible information for the user as possible. Never use units or abbreviations that could make sense to the user, unless explicitly asked to.
Make sure that things the user requests are only accepted in an unintuitive syntax and order, and ensure that certain commands accept the order in different ways, for example:
cp <existing file> <new file>
ln <new file> <existing file>

This summer will mark the 20th anniversary of my NES reviews of Simon’s Quest and Jekyll & Hyde, when I created the character which became AVGN. I’ll be celebrating the occasion a little early, reflecting on retro Castlevania games again. Coming very soon.
ai bros are just the worst
they are actively discouraging an entire new fleet of noobs getting into software engineering with literally no proof that ai will take over software in "6 months."
The lesson from the xz fiasco is that investments in maintenance and sustainability are unsexy and probably won't get a middle manager their promotion but pay off a thousandfold over many years.
But try selling that to a bean counter
After politely requesting a support contract from Microsoft for long term maintenance, they offered a one-time payment of a few thousand dollars instead.
This is unacceptable.
We didn't make it up, this is what @microsoft@microsoftteams actually did:

The xz fiasco has shown how a dependence on unpaid volunteers can cause major problems. Trillion dollar corporations expect free and urgent support from volunteers.
@Microsoft@MicrosoftTeams posted on a bug tracker full of volunteers that their issue is "high priority"
JFC reading that thread makes me angry AF.
[paraphrased] "Hi, I'm having some mental health challenges that make it hard to work on this."

- "Right now you choke your repo."
- "I get that this is a hobby project for all
contributors, but the community desires more."
