Mamdani closed a $12B deficit in 132 days, fixed 100K potholes, secured millions for gig workers, fined corrupt landlords millions, raised snow workers to $30/hr, and violent crime hit historic lows. THIS IS WHAT A LEADER DOES!!

At the Senegalese Association of America on 116th Street in NYC, a few hundred people have gathered to watch Senegal take on France, given they can’t afford the extortionist ticket prices. The NYPD has closed off the block and, citing “community safety”, is preventing more people from entering to avoid what officers describe as overcrowding. (There is ample space on the sidewalks & the road itself) The measures have also hurt local grocery stores, cafés and restaurants that were hoping to benefit from the match-day crowds. The NYPD has also been needlessly aggressive.

Y’all, not to be a huge nerd but for the reflecting pool you would need a minimum of about 8,000 liters of 12% hydrogen peroxide to reach the 50 parts per million concentration to kill algae… Is this what happens when you have 0 scientists in your administration?
They're literally dumping hydrogen peroxide into the reflecting pool this morning... 😳

New Jersey Transit, charging $98 for rail trips to MetLife (up from $12.90) have insisted that the cost of the ticket is not disincentivizing travel via their network (just over 50% of capacity met on Saturday). But even uber from Manhattan at noon today was cheaper ($80).

Here’s me playing the US national anthem at a minor league baseball game in Iowa in 2006 in my Ivory Coast jersey because I was obsessed with Didier Drogba and the team’s story.
There can’t be more than 11 people in the United States who knew what Côte d'Ivoire was before the World Cup.

WARNING: 🐦🐦‍⬛🦅🦆🪿🦢🦉🦜🦤 The nichest article I have ever written? Probably. But the data does not lie — the more birds a nation has, the more likely it is to win its World Cup match. Why? An important investigation with @nvolpewild, free to read: nytimes.com/athletic/7364861…

Every Victor Wembanyama article before the finals was “He’s an erudite master - part Monet, part Magic Johnson” and every article defending him after his Finals performance is “He did it by accident, you see, he’s just a baby and he’s also dumb”

this is what blows my mind when people act like elon is wildly intelligent instead of just good at extracting wealth from a broken system. DOGE saved us $15 million dollars a year by cutting this program which within two years led to a cost of $1 billion lol. a five year old could tell you that’s not a good deal.

The previously cheapest World Cup game between Saudi Arabia/Cape Verde in Houston has now ballooned to over $800 a ticket (for three) after being $170 10 days ago. Went up in price about $400 after Cape Verde tied Spain in a shocker.

Genuinely asking: What has the US done wrong here? Seems like it's been a smashing success. Every game is sold out, and there have been almost no hiccups organizationally.

ESPN implies that Gianni Infantino personally told Iran plans had changed and they had to leave the US for Mexico immediately after last night’s game in LA, leaving no time whatsoever for recovery. Iran’s next game is in… LA.
