What if consciousness isn’t something your brain creates, but a fundamental force of the universe — like gravity? For decades, mainstream science has operated under the assumption of physicalism—treating the human brain like a computer and consciousness as mere software generated by firing neurons. However, prominent neuroscientists like Dr. Christof Koch of the Allen Institute and Dr. Nicco Reggente of the Institute for Advanced Consciousness Studies are challenging this materialistic view. They propose that consciousness is not a byproduct of biological hardware, but rather a fundamental building block of the universe, akin to gravity, mass, or spacetime. By comparing the brain to a radio receiver that interacts with an external signal rather than generating the broadcast itself, these researchers argue that our subjective experience is a gateway to a deeper, universal reality. If this theory holds true, it completely reframes both cosmological puzzles and the human experience. Major scientific roadblocks—such as "the hard problem" of how physical matter creates subjective feelings—instantly dissolve if consciousness is accepted as foundational. Instead of asking how matter produces the mind, researchers can ask how the mind structures itself into the appearance of matter. This paradigm shift could also revolutionize medical science, offering a new framework for understanding phenomena like near-death experiences. If consciousness exists independently of our biological bodies, our final moments may not represent an ending, but rather a return to the fundamental fabric of the cosmos. source: Zickl, D. (2026). #OTD On 15 June 1942 Esso Augusta came into a minefield laid on 11 June off Virginia Beach. She struck a mine and all crewmembers were able to abandon ship without casualties. She was towed to Norfolk, where she was repaired and put back into service. uboat.net/allies/merchants/s…

I remember when blockchains used to be criticized for how much power they used to run the computers linked together in the cloud to form the blockchain and cryptopians who hodled BTC were bad and ETH was evil. Nowadays you have people using computers in the cloud to do this👇🏻& nobody says anything. What happened‽ 😫🤷🏼
Would you use this?

Voyager 1 and the Epic Journey Through the Oort Cloud Even though Voyager 1 has already entered interstellar space, it’s still deep inside our Solar System in the grandest sense. It will take roughly 300 years for humanity’s farthest spacecraft to reach the inner edge of the Oort Cloud — the vast, spherical shell of icy comets and frozen debris that marks the true outer boundary of our Solar System.Once there, crossing the entire Oort Cloud will take another ~30,000 years. That means Voyager 1 will spend tens of thousands of years silently drifting through this enormous region — a cosmic wilderness stretching up to 100,000 AU (nearly 2 light-years) from the Sun, filled with trillions of icy bodies.By the time it finally emerges on the other side, it will have been traveling for over 30,000 years since leaving the planets behind… and it will still be only barely beginning its true journey into the wider Milky Way. A humbling reminder of just how vast our Solar System really is — and how small we are in the grand timeline of space exploration. Voyager’s voyage is only getting started.
