@haringeycouncil@ContactHaringey What action is being taken to deal with the fly tipping in Queens Wood? Rubbish has been dropped in this beautiful wood for the past few days. Please act.
@haringeycouncil@ContactHaringey The rubbish in Queen’s Wood is still there – over 2 weeks now! Please act to remove it. It’s not just an eyesore, but a danger to children, dogs & wildlife. Plus leaving it sends a signal that fly-tipping is tolerated, and brings future trouble.
#DRCMiningWeekraid-uk.org/le-salaire-decen…
Why aren’t mining companies paying a living wage to their workers in #DRC (direct and indirect hires)? New research shows companies rely on the $5-a-day legal minimum ($150/mth), well below the $520/mth living wage. That's a poverty wage. #DRCMiningWeekraid-uk.org/drc-kolwezi-livi…
As #DRCMiningWeek kicks off, new evidence shows workers in Congo’s cobalt and copper mines are still underpaid and abused.
It’s time for mining companies to pay a living wage to all #workers (direct & indirect hires) and respect labour rights.

The Justice 4 Nigeria coalition, including @MosopOgoni, @AFRICASeenHeard, @fossilfreeLDN and @amnesty gathered outside the courts this morning to show our solidarity with the Niger Delta community.
Today marks the start of the Bodo community’s claims that Shell has not properly cleaned up the area after their huge oil spills.
💰 Shell has made BILLIONS extracting oil from the Niger Delta.
🌳The communities of the Niger Delta have had their farmland and water POISONED.
And now Shell has sold off their onshore assets in the Niger Delta, meaning they could just walk away.
We can’t let this happen!
Shell needs to clean up NOW.
The violent crackdown and arrests of Tundu Lissu & others in #Tanzania are a grave threat to constitutional rights—including free elections and peaceful assembly. 2025 must not repeat the mistakes of the past. See grave concerns raised by @ICJ_org lawyers. icj.org/tanzania-joint-state…
🔍 Why environmental assessments are failing communities in the DRC’s copper-cobalt belt

Finally, some substantive action from the US on Rwanda. James Kaberebe, Rwandan minister for regional integration (but so much more) and the spokesman for the rebel coalition Congo River Alliance Lawrence Kanyuka are sanctioned. Deserved and overdue. state.gov/sanctioning-driver…

🚨 In my first investigation of the year, I uncovered allegations energy giant #Shell⛽️ & the Nigerian government 🇳🇬, ignored repeated warnings that a $1bn clean up operation of the #oil-polluted Niger Delta has been a failure and a 'scam' bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c0rq…

TODAY: Protesters gathered at the High Court in London this morning as Shell faces a four-week trial over oil spills in Ogoniland, Nigeria. This trial is a critical moment in the fight for environmental justice and the right to a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment.
Lawyers representing Ogoniland communities of about 50,000 residents from the Nigel Delta are calling for Shell to take responsibility for oil pollution that occurred between 1989 and 2020. Communities say the spills have left them without clean water, unable to farm and fish, with serious risks to public health.
While a fossil fuel company faces scrutiny in court today, communities in Kolwezi, DRC, are living the next chapter of this crisis, but this time to fuel our electric vehicles (EVs) and renewables. The fight for a cleaner future must not repeat the injustices of the past.
