To my farming mates,
Rain is coming, everyone is tired, busted & cranky either trying to get winter crop in or summer crop off, or both.
But please be careful & slow down a little to make sure you get home to your family tonight.
2 good men in 2 weeks lost around here.
Looks close to the peak near the Nanami gauge on Monday afternoon. Question is @jlaycock55 @BR_Mansbridge @gundamaincattle do I really have move that solar panel?
Meanwhile off Broome there’s no sign of the virus, no floods, the occasional postcard vid from our gap year girl … and a good reason to give rest of us a miss for while 🙂
Great local talent on display last night in town at the Canowindra @Flickerfest screening @pjwattagrocowra gave a hearty performance in #dustcloud the short film world premiere. The little film that broke the drought! All the best with the agronomy side hustle from now on Pete..
@GrainOrana trial in problematic ARG population this year- assumed to be a result of resistance. Trials showed adequate control of the population now much older. Mixes, application and timing are huge influences
Interesting to see how #farmtrees don’t seem to bother deep rooted perennial grasses. Beneficial effects in this tall fescue/ Cocksfoot at Eugowra from shading western sun. Gone for all money in March - it’s been an amazing recovery #drought hardy and productive.
Some results from @NSWDPI_AGRONOMY @GRDCNorth GAPP trials at Wagga Wagga and Marrar (2017-19) with a timely reminder of the importance of matching phenology and sowing time! #phenologyisfun
A hazy morning but some clear stand out mixes at Forbes this week @Bayer4CropsAU weed trial inspections with @lLukeSampson8Thanks @MattShephard73@mark_yerbury for a great @agnvet run site. We’ll be ready when xtendflex arrives
New ranking of ryegrass load= catastrophic to match the weather. Just finished the last GRDC survey. Final region = SW Vic. Lots of clean paddocks. One farmer said Sakura used under perfect conditions; we couldn’t find a single plant!! Also wild radish found in 1/120 paddocks.
Plenty of Russians on the green bridge this morning. Tef sown into wheat after sorghum. Plenty of beneficial species so the hay mower will provide IPM. Good to see @cesaraustralia update out but wonder how these hotspots will go once it rains?
Connections are important for wellbeing and stress management. We need people around us to have a laugh with, celebrate our successes and support us to bounce back when things get tough.

Dust and hope at @agnvet field day at #eugowra tropical grasses shot on 5 mm, grazing crops precious bore water wrapped in plastic. Keen group on a bad day at the office. Thanks for the chat and @BarenbrugAUS @pioneerseedsau
